I'm still thinking of getting a sportbike to cruise to work & the back roads around town. I'd like to put the FJR in the garage for those "special" rides & to stave off getting high milage. The local dealer has a beautiful Honda 2002 CBR 954RR (it's RED!!!) with 3300 miles on it. Took it for a test ride. That sucker is fast! Ergos were weird considering the FJR, but it is a beautiful bike. They will settle for about $6K. Really tempted.

Anybody else know this model?

Damn you, that's EXACTLY the bike I have been looking at for all the same reasons you have.

Great looking machine and comfortable ergos. Go over to www.sport-touring.net and there is a sub-forum for 954rr owners - they love those bikes!!

There seems to be a good number of 954rr's with low mileage like the one you rode.

It's a Honda so you know it will run forever. That is a reasonable price for it compared to what I have seen on www.cycletrader.com

I've known people that have owned Honda 919's and 954's. They loved them. And I've never read of any knockoffs on a 954 other than it wasn't a liter bike.

If it's okay with you to commute on a sportbike (I've done it), it should be a good bike. Honda builds their machines to last.

Dude...you need to lose the NWS avatar.

I'm not the dick...my HR department here at the office is.

One tight-assed whiney-gash looking over my shoulder can get me in deep **** for having pics of "nekkid wimmen" on my computer screen.

I refer you to Forum Guidelines #1 & #8.

VecterVP1 should be along shortly to talk about doing a SS1K on a CBR.
Art? You out there?

 :p
Actually the SS1k I did on it wasn't documented. However, the BBG1500 I did was. It was something like 1588 miles in 22 hours 11 minutes.... I can't remember specifically thought....

I personally love my 02 CBR954. Its not the fastest liter bike out there, but in the right hands (not mine) it'll sure give them a run for their money!!! Also, with a Givi topcase mount, you can use it for minor touring.

Errrr...ummm...it's not my responsibility. It's each member's responsibility to abide by Forum Guidelines.

Personally, I don't find it offensive. At least no more offensive than the thought of someone's budget getting ass-raped by monthly Viper payments. ;)

What are these montly payments that you speak of? That car was purchased with dead presidents.
Treetop Flyer business must be doing okay??? :)
He doesn't have kids. If I didn't have kids I'd have a kick as house, car, truck and collection of bikes.

I'm sorry to say Gunny has reproduced. I saw his son. Fortunately for him, it appears he has taken on some quality traits from his mother. The boy may grow up to be a normal part of society after all.

The 919s and 954s are excellent bikes. Sounds like a good deal. I'd jump on it if I could. I put 15K miles on a 919, including some 600 and 400-mile days, and loved that bike.

They are nice bikes. I have riden one a few times. One my of my friends has one and has had for five years. The only thing he added was a Ohlins steering damper and Arrow shotgun pipes, it is a sweet bike.

No question about it, it is nice having a sport bike as a stable mate to your FJR. My TLR gets regular rips when my FJR is taking a break.

Life is good!

:dribble: I really wanted a set of Arrow Shotgun pipes when I first got my 954. I couldn't swing the cash, so I went a different route with a Kerker and have been surprisingly happy with it. Still need to put a steering damper on my bike too. It seems every time I get money for it, something LD related comes up.....

Well, I did it. For the price of a slightly used MV Agusta F4-1000, I can buy the Honda sportbike as well as find a good used pub cruiser (although to be honest, I'm going to own a MV someday!!!!!!). :dribble: :dribble:

I pick the 954RR up tomorrow (I think). I want it put in their shop & everything gone over. By the way, it does have an Ohlins steering damper, it's got the custom undertail & it has a AKRAPOVIC carbon fibre exhaust system.

Vrooom! Vroom! :yahoo: :yahoo:

:angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Okay, here goes.....

Yesterday, I go the Monroe Yamaha dealer to look at the Honda CBR954RR one last time. I talk to the finance person, take an application, drive to work, fill it out, & FAX it back to her. She calls for additional info, etc. Then she calls again, says everything is OK, come get your bike. Because all the phone calling is occurring after normal business hours, I tell her that I'll be in early afternoon (today) to sign the papers (I had to work from 10am to 2pm) & take possession. I ask, "Do I need any money for down payment?". "No", she says, " I've got it 100% covered."

Cool!

:angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

I get home from work & there's my cell phone flashing! I check my voice mail & it's the salesman telling me that there's people from Wenatchee who want the bike. Please call. This was at about 11am or so.

:angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

I suit up & head to the dealer (I was going to drop off my FJR for work that they messed up on in July, then ride the Honda back home!). I get there. No bike. WTF!!!!!

They tell me that they couldn't get a hold of me (I gave them multiple numbers. They only called my cell), so they sold the bike to the other people. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Now, that's twice this Monroe dealer has F*cked me! Once, for not properly performing my FJR 24K miles checkup... now, twice, with this deal.

Never again. This dealer could've made so much more money off me (me being local & purchasing lots of farkles!) than some guy clear over in Wenatchee.

Lesson learned.

A very dear friend of mine who owns the local Kawasaki dealer said for me to just wait a bit & look at the new '08 ZX-10. Oh, well.

To relieve the stress,.. try looking about for a good Honda RVT. That's my "fun" second bike idea,... that i'm working on next.

It would be nice to be able to say i have a V-twin
