I wanted to see if anyone as interested in getting a group together for a group ride into DC for Rolling Thunder on May 27, 2007 (https://www.rollingthunder1.com/events.html). Riding with Harley's goes against all logical thought that I have, however if a few of us FJR riders could get together maybe I will feel better about it.

This is a good ride to bring together awareness to our POW/MIA and veteran issues. A lot of bikes are down there at this time and it is a thrilling experience.

Thoughts? I know there are plenty of DC Metro Area FJR riders around here so let's hook up for this event.

I have been to the last 3 (1200 Bandit) and this will be my first on a FJR. :yahoo:

Awesome. . it looks like we could have some interest in doing this. I know a few other FJR riders that are not part of this forum (despite me trying) and I have contacted them. We could find a general meeting spot that would be good for both NOVA and MD people. I currently live in NOVA myself so finding a spot would be easy.

OK let's keep this in mind and see how many others we can recruit. I would feel happy with at least 5 bikes cruising thru. We have a few months till it happens but I have been excited to do it since I got the bike last year.

I will be coming in on Friday with Run For The Wall. I am going to do Road Guard duty for them from Ontario CA to DC on my FJR.

I will be staying at the Holiday Inn (703) 243-9800 in Arlington VA Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights. The room will either be in my name or Tom Walton.

We are usually scheduled to be at the Pentagon at 7:00 a.m. for the noon start. However for the last couple of years I have been able to get my hands on a Rolling Thunder arm band and have been able to leave after getting everyone there and then return about 11:00 a.m. and get back in with the RFTW group.

Would love to get together with you people.

Jim- I would love to add you to the group.

OK our time is coming near for Rolling Thunder and I thought I would throw it out a few more times to see how many people would like to join in. How about we plan on meeting in Alexandria/Arlington off Jefferson Davis Highway. Real easy to get to from VA and MD. And it is an easy ride to the Pentagon and DC from there. I have never been, but they leave the Pentagon at noon. So maybe a 9am meeting would be good, some Starbucks or Dunkin Dounuts. Then we ride over to were the junk pile of parts are, I mean Harleys.

Who is up for it? I would love to see 5-6 FJRs or forum members.

Great, and am so excited about this. I have always wanted to do it. But never had the time/bike whatever other excuse I had back then. This is a whole new year. I am going to buy a bunch of flags for us.

My wife and I will be staying at the West Arlington Gateway Saturday and Sunday night. We will be riding in from Southwestern NY, mostly down rt. 15 in PA. Will be happy to meet up Sat. night, and doughnuts are always good! pm me for a cell #.

Got to get cracking on that flag mount.

Anybody know what's up with this? Lorie and I have someplace to be that afternoon and can't ride downtown, but would like to meet up with folks in the AM if that's the plan.

Hello, is this mike on?
Jim-

I am still game. I have been meaning to post directions to the Dunkin' Donuts. But just haven't had the time.

This is where I will be at 9am

Dunkin' Donuts at 3325 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305, USA

703-535-6571

My Cell: (410) 340-6776

Roger. Lorie and I will see you there at 0900. As I said before, we can't make the trip downtown, but would like to meet the folks that show up.

Jim

To give folks an idea of where it is, it's in Alexandria on Route 1 south of S. Glebe (Rt 120) road and north of E. Glebe road. SSE of Reagan National Airport. I'd post an aerial view of the map but can't figure out how to do it! Great pick for those going on to the rally - straight up Rt 1.

Got it - here it is (the Airport is just off the map to the NE):

Dunkin' Donuts - 3325 Jeff Davis Hghy (Rt 1), Alexandria VA
