Stopped at my nearest Walmart (1 1/2 hour away) and bought my usual gal of Rotella T6 5 40 full synthetic.

When I got home I noticed on the label it said heavy duty diesel engine oil. The "diesel" is new.

Is this the same T6?

Did they just change the label?

Just thought I would ask

Thanks in advance to any enlightenment.

It's whacky Friday so maybe the boys won't beat u down too much for not searching this...

with that being said, it's been covered quite a bit, try searching?

Enjoy your weekend :)

I'm in. For what it's worth Jerome, I've been using Rotella 15w40 for the last 4 years now. No problems so far.

Go ahead and close it now.

Save your money and use standard Rotella T 15w-40. You get nothing but alleged piece of mind and less money going with synthetics. But really it's what ever floats your boat.

I love oil threads... ;)

What's peace of mind worth these days?

For this application 15W40 is fine as long as you are changing it near the 4k mile schedule (I happen to use a 5k schedule).

Certain other applications, such as turbocharged engines, require a 5W40 synthetic. I've run several SAAB High Output Turbo engines on the stuff with regular 7.5k mile changes up to relatively high engine mileages with no engine problems.

I wouldn't waste my money on the synthetic for the FJR. It just doesn't need it.

Well, at first I thought, "they have a Walmart in Hailey?" Then I saw he went and hour and a half to Walmart. That would be Twin Falls. Twin Falls is where this happened:

Evel Knievel used diesel oil in his motorcycles. Look carefully at that fin and you'll see his sponsor Mack Trucks. So, the Rotella diesel will definitely work in your FJR. And yes, it is a Friday afternoon.....

Okay, It is Friday, It is a oil question, and yes, I have been hibernating all winter and have not been around. Snow on the brain....

That all being said, I was not questioning whether Rotella is a good oil. I have used it the last 3 years and am quite happy with it.

I was just questioning the new and different wording on the label as in "Diesel".

Never saw anything addressing that question in search.

Wow, 11 replies! Thanks all, and be sure to enjoy the rest of this good Friday!!

Hey Spud, Actually the Walmart was in Mountain Home. Twin is closer but I was heading back from Boise.

Evil was awesome. I saw him jump 20 something cars many moons ago.

Made me want to ride with the rubber staying in contact with the ground!

Cheers, and enjoy the spring!
