Hey Gents, gearing up for our first long ride. 12th of Oct to the 20th

Our trip will be Milw to Nashville, Nashville to Birmingham for the Skip Barber Museum - hoping for some route assistance for heading from there to St Aug. Fla.

Looking for ideas / POI's...

We were thinking of heading towards the gulf and east from there but open to suggestions.

No hurry for this trip, just nice an leisurely - see the sights. Could make it a 3 days adventure or for sure 2.

Love seafood FWIW

Something along the lines of this ? Don't want it to get too boring though....

I live in Montgomery and I am somewhat familiar with your route and alternatives.

Looks like the scenic route out of Montgomery to you connect with I-10 outside Tallahassee.

If your wanting a more direct route U.S. 231 out of Montgomery runs directly to I-10 and is all 4-lane.

I drive U.S. 331 to U.S. 98 to San Destine frequently, I seldom take 84, 331 is 2-lane and all small towns the entire route.

This is my normal driving route to Tallahassee.

I can give you more direct routes to get on 231 or 331 if you want.

Your welcome to call me.

Happy trails...

Can't help with the routing choice through Montgomery, but can echo cbviars that US 231 is a good highway. If the cotton hasn't already been harvested, it can be kind of surreal riding through hillsides covered in white cotton balls.

Be interested to hear your impression of the "beach loop" through the panhandle. A lot of US 98 isn't really on a beach, although it passes through very scenic towns and does get ocean breezes.

If you're at your leisure, when you get to St Agustine, take A1A south to about Palm Coast half way to Daytona Beach. That's a gorgeous ride on the water and there are big houses on stilts. A few of them are on stilts in the water. You'll enjoy it.

Uncle Hud... We Will be keeping our eyes peeled for the non-harvested cotton fields.... !! Crosses fingers

Yes magicmaker - St Aug is a destination as our friends live there, and we have been there a few times - especially down that stretch.

Fantastic area.... Actually stayed there one year for 24 Hour Lemans at Datona.... had a great time...

Thanks for the reminder
