Hey All. Next week I'll be driving (not riding damkit) down to pick up family at Charlotte airport who'll be arriving early afternoon. I'll have the entire day before to get somewhere close so, as I'm not too concerned about making the best time, thought I'd try something other than the usual 95 > 85 just to switch it up. My first thought was 81 > 77 but then Rte. 29 from D.C. to Greensboro caught my eye. Google Maps have them all about the same time wise and a few looks on Street View seems like 29 might be ok. Any experiences/comments/suggestions from the locals? Thanks.

I took 29 south once from the DC area south. I won't do that again! Tons of traffic and loads of stop lights/cross traffic. Might be okay if you get it on a good day or if you are in no rush at all.

I've got business in D.C. later in the year. Fly in normally. But I'm thinking about being stupid and riding. Have to figure out if I can fit more than one suit in an E55.

Driving or riding: I do US 29 from Greensboro to DC or back often. I don't mind it. An alternate is I-95 south to Richmond, US 360 to Danville, US 29 south to Greensboro tho you'll pay like $1.40 in tolls. I've done this several times. Another alternate is US 15 from Culpepper to US 360 to Danville then US 29 to G'boro. Not too bad.

From G'boro you could take US 220 south to Asheboro, NC 49 south from there to Charlotte or I-85 if you need to make some time. Lemme know what you decide. Maybe we can get a cuppajoe- I'm in Asheboro if you decide to pass this way.

I thought 29 might have the potential for some lights. Still, a change of scenery sounds good about now. That 15 > 360 idea might also help.

Russ, PM incoming.

Got it, and replied. If you think about it, text the night before with guessed time down here. I'll get it around midnight (after work) so don't be surprised at no immediate response. And I get the "change of scenery" thing, that's why I've traveled several different ways here, there and back.
