Hi all,

It appears that I will be blasting out to Golden quite quickly, not much time to see the sites. after NAFO though I would like to do a little more interesting riding on the way back. As it may be a long time again before I ride the wild west I thought I might like to stay in the mountains and spend some time making my way up to Alberta. From there it would be slabbing it back east but at least I would seen the mountains. The alternative is head SW for a bit then slab home, or south across the US then up the up the east coast. As I don't really love the southern heat in July, and I can ride the eastern side of the country more easily I think the mountains north is the most sensible solution. Anyone else interested in spending 4 or five days exploring between Golden and Calgary (or portions thereof?)

I may be adjusting my route to do Glacier after NAFO (instead of before) due to trying to work around some family stuff.

I don't have a passport so I would probably stay in the states...I will give you a heads up if I switch...

Apply for a passport right now, tell them you need it as soon as possible, and you should have it in plenty of time for NAFO.

My plans are still up in the air. I scheduled three weeks for NAFO. The first week is travel to Colorado and then I have two weeks to get home. I was planning on heading west to see Yosemite and maybe some of the California coast but my family is thinking about spending a week ay my brother's place in MI, so I may go north and east the week after NAFO and meet the family in MI. All this planning is giving me a headache.

Well get a passport! You are going to need one at some point. It only takes a few weeks.

Gypsy, I am planning on heading west through Moab and the GC, then probably over to the coast and back up that way. Up through BC back to Alberta.

No need for a passport this summer Wheaton (only if you fly to Canada). Any photo ID will do just fine at a vehicle crossing (assuming you're not a wanted man by your local Federales).

Gypsy: Syl and I have booked a timeshare for the week before NAFO down in Pagosa Springs, CO, so I'm not sure if we will have the time to poke around on our way home, but I am semi-retired you know!

Lots of beautiful roads in that corner and the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park really is special (visually - not a racetrack-type road due to overwhelming number of quadricycles) - seeing you're going to be in the area! We'll keep in touch.

Hmm....I was planning on riding home with Wheaton, but since it sounds like he is ditching me yet again (Don't worry Wheaton, my feeling aren't hurt or anything) I will probably do another super slab route and go for another SS1K.

On the way there AND back? I'd like to try hwy34 back from Golden to Omahell... not slab, but not too slow :)

I'm not ditching anybody yet...my plans are in flux...as soon as I know either way, I will post up who I am ditching and who I am not ditching. :)

Now you're talkin' -- back before Interstates 6 & 34 were major truck routes across the plains. There's still some 'Americana' on display.

Speaking of that: you'll get the opportunity to stop at https://www.pioneervillage.org/ :)

Hrm...interesting. I might have to make a stop at least.

HWY 6 follows the superslab for too many miles :) and there are parts of that route that I would like to avoid anyway. I've never been near any of the towns along hwy34 which is why it appeals to me. I might take an extra day on the ride home for this...

I'm heading home to Alberta via Oshkosh, Montreal, North Bay, Duluth and who knows where else...

Looks like we're heading in different directions Gypsy. Might pass each other after we both turn for home.
