Honda has revealed to the world's motorcycle journalists that it will be launching a V4 superbike in 2010.
The bike, expected to be the next CBR, will feature something never seen before on a production superbike; a push-button quickshifter to enable seamless gear changes up and down the box.

Details are sketchy, but the bike is expected to resemble the concept V4 that Honda shows in their stand at the Cologne Motorcycle Show.

That push-button shifter thing sounds revolutionary....

What's next, an electric-servo operated clutch?

One would guess they'll do something different for the up shift mode (like the ignition interupted speed shifters used in drag racing). Down shifts could be "interesting".

Maybe they got a great deal on AE shift nacelles?

sounds like a great way to cheat in race classes that don't allow quickshifters tho....

Should be entertaining. Stay tuned on how to kill a brand. Next we'll start seeing Honda boutique dealers.

This bike has been proposed and reported on since... well forever. Until I see it in a dealer's show room, it is just vaporware.

Note the self restraint and lack of use of the caps-lock key.

Some of the more credible moto journals are beginning to report on Honda's new ST bike in addition to the more incredible ones. There is a brief article in the last issue of Motorcyclist that says it's coming. They are talking a V4 1200 replacement for the Interceptor. But they contend the ST1300 continues. Seems like they might be cannibalizing their own market a bit, which makes the report seem a bit dubious.

As Ion says: believe it when you see it in the flesh.

Dual clutch transmission.

I"m going to pop some pop corn. Anyone want some? :)

I'd rather have BMW's in-line 4 with traction control.
BMW makes an inline 4?

Next thing yer gonna tell me that the japs are making V-twins...

Yes, 1300 GT. I believe it is new this year. A buddy just bought one, the starter switch went out at 200 miles. They have on the fly suspension adjustment and lots of other goodies, all for an end price of around $22,000.

:)
