Just got off the phone with Katy from Russell. The
2006 COG Group Buy is ON!
Dates are November 15th thru December 2006, first come,
first served.
You must have your seat into Russell with all the
forms, pictures seat pan and payment before December
31st, 2006. Keep in mind that they are closed for part
of the holidays, so I personally would get it to them
before Dec. 15th, 2006.
You must write "2006 COG GROUP BUY" in the payment
area of the order form.
Then manually mark 10% off your order WITH THE
EXCEPTION OF SHIPPING AND TAXES.
This COG Group Buy is good for all seats they work on,
regardless of model. So if you have an FJR, ST, etc.,
the discount will be valid. Ride in appointments are
also discounted, but must be arranged well in advance.
Russell’s contact info is:

Order form

Your seats would be done in the order they arrive.
Turnaround will be based on volume of seats that come in.
Last year, the word got out to the FJR and
ST boards, who also joined the COG group buy, the more
the merrier. If any of you are on those lists, please
feel free to pass on the word.
So we are looking at about 25 seat orders. I would
suggest getting your seat in before December 1st to
get in earlier in the build order. Heck, for some the
riding season is over as of Thanksgiving.
Russell has a two year warrantee on their seats, some
of you asked if repairs and rebuilds are part of this
group buy, unfortunately they are not. BUT I strongly
suggest that you contact Katy at Russell
1-800-432-9566 and check about warrantee or other
repairs.
You provide measurements of inseam, height, weight,
riding style, pillion usage, plus pics of you and
pillion sitting on the bike, then you send in your
stock seat base pan, with or without the seat cover
attached. Make sure you remove the mounting
brackets on the back of the seat prior to sending,
those are worth their weight in gold since you can't
buy them separately.
On your order form you will fill out stich pattern,
single or dual custom seat, seat material and credit
card info. In about 4 weeks your seat is back and you
get to ride, break it in for about 1000 miles, then
decide if it needs additional customizing.
Costs are all located at https://www.day-long.com
Neither COG nor I have any financial goals, gains, or
personal interest in Russell or this deal, besides the
fact that I personally love my seat. Took me from
multiple 500 mile days to multiple 850 mile days. Had
back surgery 2 years ago, so my daily range went down
some, but I installed a modified Utopia driver's
backrest on my Russell and it works great.
BTW - some
folks have ordered the Russell Driver's Backrest and
complained about it's appearance. Be warned. That's
why I did the Utopia backrest, which can be removed
and only shows a small mount on the seat crown. You
can check out that modification in the appropriate
folder on my website.
Once again, I do not work for, nor am I a
representative of Russell Day-Long seats.
DO NOT SEND MONEY OF ANY KIND TO ME.
I am just a COG member who negotiates group
discounts when I can. You will work directly
with Katy and the nice folks over at Russell.
