Great to hear...thanks Steve.Gary Ray let me know Dave went home on Monday.
That's good to hear. But he's still likely to have a hard time in front of him. You folks that live close enough be sure to support him. Though I know that goes without saying.Gary Ray let me know Dave went home on Monday.
IndeedGreat news. Hope the remainder of the healing process goes well.
Steve, I'm betting that the emergency bandage and tape job, that you administered at the scene, had a big part in saving the thumb.Dave went back in for the day and the docs repaired his thumb. Pin / pins? anyway they got it back in place and he was able to go back home....again.
I have to ask.. Would ABS have made a difference? His insurance company has totaled his bike. (As expected) He is already looking at the new ST's. I told him, no matter what he gets, it better have anti-lock brakes.
I was the rider following Dave. And to me, the line that he took going into that turn did not look like he would make it. But perhaps if his bike had ABS, he might have been able to scrub off enough speed without locking up the brakes, which in my opinion was probably a big part of why things went as bad as they did. And the fact that the side of the road dropped off about 10 feet in that turn didn't help. It was quite a violent crash to see.I have to ask.. For me, I will never buy a new bike w/o ABS..
Vintage bikes are another story, of course.
No, Denny was in the lead, I was riding second, until I waved Dave around me a few turns before his get off, as he was right on my tail...I didn't want to hold him up...maybe I should have...Was he the lead rider?
