I just returned from a visit to Dave's house. He is doing much better, although he is still in a lot of pain. The doctors seem to think that the thumb surgery in the last required operation and all that remains is rest and recovery time. He is surrounded by friends and loved ones, so lets all hope for a speedy recovery.

His insurance company has totaled his bike. (As expected) He is already looking at the new ST's. I told him, no matter what he gets, it better have anti-lock brakes.

Now on the lighter side,. My brother and I are planning a two day trip to SEO this coming Tues. and Wens.. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Logan, Ohio Tues night. They have a great pool and hot tub, and good eats right next door.

Come one come all. This will probably the last opportunity this season.

Hey guys

We're trying to get Denny to take us around if that will help incentivize anyone whose straddling the fence.

Like Ray's saying this could be some of the last warm weather we may see this year.

I have to ask.. Would ABS have made a difference?

For me, I will never buy a new bike w/o ABS..

Vintage bikes are another story, of course.

I was the rider following Dave. And to me, the line that he took going into that turn did not look like he would make it. But perhaps if his bike had ABS, he might have been able to scrub off enough speed without locking up the brakes, which in my opinion was probably a big part of why things went as bad as they did. And the fact that the side of the road dropped off about 10 feet in that turn didn't help. It was quite a violent crash to see.

Was he the lead rider?
No, Denny was in the lead, I was riding second, until I waved Dave around me a few turns before his get off, as he was right on my tail...I didn't want to hold him up...maybe I should have...
No...you did the right thing.
Kudos to everybody who helped him in his time of need. Best wishes to Dave for a good recovery!!!

Wish I could have ridden with you guys...but selfishly am glad I wasn't there on that ride. I probably would have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off, not knowing what to do, but wanting to do everything.
