Well, it happened. A local personal watercraft and quad runner dealer known as "Funtime Sports" has "merged" with Capitol Yamaha. I heard the rumors and learned it is true. The first clue was when I stopped by to drop-off my FJR for service. I didn't recognize anybody. The second clue arrived shortly thereafter. One of the service guys, while doing cleaning, accidentally pulled the fire alarm. I stood by and watched the circus develop. I should feel lucky that I wasn't charged admission. Anyway, the fire department left after showing them how to re-set the alarm. Anyone with half a brain would have left as well - but this dealer is only 2 miles from home.

They seem to have done an adequate job with the service [plugs and TBS] however just as I left I noticed the glass over the odometer/fuel gauge section was cracked. I didn't have time to turn around and go back because I had to pick-up my wife at the airport. I called and reported it. They were very positive and said they believed me and would order the part. I called back a week later - my message was not returned. I called back again - he was too busy and would call me back. I didn't hear a peep. I called again and finally caught the service manager on the line. You guessed it. I got the, "We test road it and didn't notice any problems like cracked glass". They kissed it off. :angry2:

Anyway, they will never see me again and I strongly recommend they be avoided. The Circus is in town! :jester:

I wonder - if they didn't do the damage is it a warranty item?

Aaaahh, so that's what happened. These guys always had Avons in stock, so when I needed my last set, I gave them a call. Called them about 10 a.m., asked if he had Avons in stock. Got an, "I don't know, but I'll go look." Called back at 1 p.m. - "Oh yeah, I was just headed out to the shed to look for those." Called back about 3 p.m. Got a, "found the front, don't know about the back." I told him to not bother, and BTW, what happened to the British guy? "Oh, he's at home now." Wouldn't say if he got canned.

The old service manager was AWESOME. A British gent who worked me in (once when cords showing, once when I picked up a bolt) the same day I called. Last time he even did the throttle position sensor recall unasked. Bike was as smooth as I've ever experienced, so he may have had the mech do a TBS while he had the plastic off. They caught that I had a sticky brake caliper and lubed it up, again just because it was what was needed. What a bummer. I was planning to rotate them with Roseville Yamaha for services once my service plan ran out.

Thanks for letting me know, Ric in Sac - I may call one or two more times - If I don't hear a British accent, I'll keep my distance...

Purchased my 07' from them. Sale was a smooth transaction and fair price. But worried about service. I also got the "it's normal" when myself and another Tech couldn't get my bike to shift down from 2nd gear. Just to be safe made appt with Roseville for my 600 mile service. I'd rather ride from Elk Grove to Roseville and have good service then keep going back to a closer dealership with problems.

I've ordered parts for my bikes through Capitol Yamaha cuz they used to be close to my work but I've always given them the part numbers. Since the thread's already been hijacked I'll throw in my support for Roseville Yamaha. Top notch service and they must hire their extensive female staff through a modeling agency, what a babe fest! :dribble:

Yeah - the Brit service manager doesn't work there anymore. I asked. He gave me a free throttle body sync once when it was in for service because, "it needed it". Their telephone response that he "was home" was a seriously misleading half-truth. No integrity here. I'm going to Roseville from now on.
