I wish you the very best. Tough decisions you have to make right now, but your health is the most important one of them all. When you are all healed up, the bike will be there bro. Prayers for you to be better than new. The 08's will probably be better anyway :)

Yes a double dose of what all have said.

Remember always stay postive when the situations get tough and that is when you are at your best.

As of now you seem to be over whelmed with all the descision making going on, to sell to buy payment . operations... get the picture. I am going to throw out some ideas for you to kick around about your operation that they do not want to pay for.

1.- Get it in writing as to why they refuse to pay

2.-Get the Doctor who recommends the operation for written support

3.-Inquire from your doctor about becomming a patient at a teaching hospital to have it done

4.-This one may sound strange and it will need a little research on your part. Ask your doctor about having the operation done in another country and submit the information and details to your insurance company to see if they wil cover it, since it will be a whole lot cheaper . Insurance companys are just starting to do thos now. This would be one way to have the procedure done.

5.-Check out the social offering the state has to help

6.-Go to the state and ask what they can do and what is available through there programs

7.-Out the country of Costa Rica ( there are a territpry of the USA and there medicine is totally free.)

8.- Go to a Shrinner Hospital and talk them about what is avaiable to help you. They are a great organization and a wealth of knowledge

9.- If nothing else claim to be an illegal may get it done for free

Hope this gets the ball rolling and lifts your spirit and you see there are other options out there it just takes work. good luck

Always keep a :D it makes life so much better weekend rider :D

A cannot understand why your insurance would not cover your surgery especialy if its a life and death issue. Except that insurance can be real **** heads about paying their claims. I can think of several times when I had to deal with insurance companies with accident and medical issues and I had to go after those mother f'rs like hell to get then to cover their ****. Get your health back on track and get that FJR its worth it! My wife just said if your insurance company keeps giving you crap about your surgery, tell then you are going to call 60 Minutes.

good points from Weekend rider. Also, talk to your senator and or state representative. You might be surprised how they can help. Had that happen to my friend when the insurance co would not do necessary work for his father...the senator made a phone call...problem resolved. You just never know! Try everything!

Hey,

Sorry to hear about your situation,

I was T boned last Aug and just had rotator cuff surgey last wed,

I understand feeling like losing everything, can't work, and the insurance wheezzels just keep ******* with me,, I was already on military disability and no insurance except for medi care,,

sometimes I feel like it just can't get any better, arm hurts like **** all the time and makes me depressed and mean as hell, been a real *** to be around, I am writing this to say that I know your pain bro,, if you need someone to chat with just pm me,

I have some insurance knowledge that might help,, just don't want to burn up space telling you what I have experienced ,, no bike, my ole lady left me, all that nice ****,,

Thanks for all the kind words and words of encouragement. My shoulder surgery is not elective and will be paid for by my insurance company. The other surgery is elective in most cases as it is in mine. It turns out there is a disclaimer in my policy that states this surgery is not covered. The surgery is lapband surgery. Most insurance companies will pay if the patient is 100lbs overweight (mine won't though). I am not that much overweight, but about 30lbs shy of what insurance companies require. There is a history of heart disease on my father's side of the family and heat attacks are common. My father died of a heart attack when he was about 60, his brother had quadruple bypass in his 50s and died of a heart attack when he was in his upper 60s. My aunt, who was grossly overweight, had gasteric bypass surgery after her first heart attack. Since then she's had 2 more but is still alive. So as you can see, I'm a candidate for a heart attack within the next 10 to 15 years and getting the lapband surgery could very well prevent it from happening. I'm a teacher and our school district routinely changes insurance providers. Our last company did cover the surgery as my former neighbor, also a teacher in my district, had it done a couple years ago, paid for by Unicare. I am also thinking about going to another district in the next couple years, which is closer to the new home we just built and move into next weekend. I understand they have much better insurance than we do and it could very well be covered. So I may wait until I make that move. I just haven't made up my mind yet. All in all, thank you all again and I will not leave this board despite not having my FJR yet . Hopefully that time will come soon.

Keep your chin up. You can still hang out with us. I hope all gets better for you and your troubles are put behind you.

Keep us up to date as to what's going on with you.

Went out on Google and put in Lap Band surgery and they list some doctors that do the procedure. There is a Dr. Sanchez that will do it for less that $8,000 including all costs associated with the procedure. He is in Monterrey Mexico. Something like that might be worth a look see. Finance that and the motorcycle in one loan and all is well.

There is no way I would go to Mexico for any type of surgery. Living on the border I hear too many horror stories about surgeries gone bad - lapband, gastric bypass and the most common is lypo suction. One of my wife's teachers nearly died because of a lyposuction gone wrong in Monterrey.

Sorry to hear of your situation. I had some bad times awhile back too. It took me about 2 1/2 years to finally get back into riding and get my FJR.

Hang in there and take it one step at a time. Then the bike will take care of itself when the time is ready.

GOOD LUCK! You need some of it now.
