I am in need of a saddlebag lock really, really bad. Picked up my new 08 a week ago, went on a short ride around the house, got home ..... and one of locks gone, gone. Same story as always it seems like when trying to get help from the dealer. He said he was going to order me 2, but I can not get him to even return a phone call like he says he's going to from last week. I'm sure he'll come through one day. It seems from reading other post that re-keying a lock to be the same as the others is no big deal for a locksmith. Trying to take a long weekend trip, but it's kind of hard with no bags ....lol. Really wanting to find a lock somewhere fast, I have $1,500 worth of stuff coming in on Thursday (sliders, windshield, backrest and rack, etc...) Willing to pay, mow your grass, wash your car, just about whatever it takes to get a lock

If anyone can help, thanks

If you bought the bike new from a dealer, I'd be having some strong words with them because they shorted you. The bike new comes with a spare matching lock (for the Yamaha backbox if you decide to buy one in the future), 6 plastic covers for the holes left when removing the saddlebags, and a set of 2 saddlebag liners. All US models have this stuff. Prep guy may have kept or tossed the baggie with the lock and plastic covers by mistake.

Prayers have been answered ...... by some fine FJR owners and not the dealer ....lol

Thanks

So you found it? If not I can look for my spare... your key won't work but...

+1 The dealer owes you a lock and the plugs.

+2 the dealer owes you a lock and the plugs ----

Also, I have my spare lock if you still need one. You can send me one back when the dealer gives you the ones he owes you.

BTW, locktite the screws on the locks. I almost learned the hard way myself. As I was opening one of the side cases only a couple of weeks after getting the bike I had a lock come right out with the key.
