I've been everywhere in Az North of Phoenix, except I have never done the salt river canyon. Well next week the Duchess and I plan to do that. My bud Ken (a cruizer rider) & our friend from L.A. Walt, an older guy who was a stunt man in the movies (john Wayne westerns and the like) a man with some pretty interesting stories, will be joining us on his hondapodamus.

We are staying in Payson for 2 nites. Wed 10/22- Fri 10/24. On Thursday 10/23 we will do a loop down from Payson to Globe up through the salt river canyon then back to Payson on the mogollon rim hwy #260. (apx 250 miles)

On our way to Payson and home we will be going through Sedona (back road tour incl.) Jerome/ Cotton wood, and possibly the bagdad hwy these details are still to be worked out. Anyone interested & joining us on any of this trip let me know!

Here's A cool vid shot from a m/c of the salt river canyon road. Weather is looking good & should be a great ride!

marcusorelius and Duchess, I sure wish our schedule next week would allow the Stanley Boys to join up with you! Seth's Fall Break Ended 10/15, he's back in High School.

Fast Firefighter Fred and his new Suzuki V-Strom 1000, I love that color on the Suzook! Just before gearing up for the ride to Salt River Canyon!

Enrique's "Neil Patrick Harris Special Edition" BMW R1200GS Adventure, Ricky Martin rode by and made Henry an offer for his bike!

Papa Chuy Viejo always LOVES going our for a motorcycle ride with his Wonderful Son Seth, Seth shot dozens of photos of the Salt River Canyon

The Salt River Canyon is incredibly spectacular and only 135 miles away from our Chandler home, Salt River Canyon is a true Arizona treasure!

Seth and DaddyDon love taking our BMW K1600GT out for a ride with her incredible handling and amazing comfort, that is when all systems are a GO!

Details on the 3 day ride are:

Day 1 Wed 10/22- Kingman out route 66 to Seligman, I-40 to Flagstaff for lunch- 89A down to Sedona- tour back roads Sedona- then to Payson.

Day 2 Thurs 10-23 Payson to Globe (pickup subway sandwiches in Globe) up the Salt river Canyon- stop at the river for lunch- onward N to Hwy 260 & west back to Payson.

Day 3 Fri 10-24 Payson to Cottonwood-lunch in old downtown cottonwood- Jerome over the pass then to Prescott- Iron springs road to the bagdad hwy then up through wikiup & back to Kingman.

So far the ride will be with Duchess & I, Ken, Walt, Al, & Cliff (80 years old!) & maybe Dave.

The road looks a lot like westbound U.S. 20 in to Burnes-Hines, OR. Nice road, but not too exciting. OTOH, the weather is rapidly closing down in the northeast and this looks pretty good.

I'm looking forward to the trip report that make this look a lot better than that video. There is beautiful countryside out there, and a GoPro just doesn't capture it. A dog would help.
