Nine of us got away at 9am and headed out Dehesa Road with the goal of finishing at the bottom of Palomar. About a 230 mile ride and another 260 for those dudes coming from LA... 8 on FJR's and Beemerdon on, you guessed it, the trusty Beemer. Don was in from Arizona visiting family in Orange county and hooked up with us, thanks Don! Everyone rode their own speed and as a result it was a safe and fun ride.

Dehesa to Japatul to Lyons Valley to Honey Springs to the east end of 94. FjStar (Tony) just happened to be going west on Japatul as the pack screamed by easterly. A quick u-ee and Tony was our number 10. Temps were in the mid 80's to mid 90's... very doable but good call on leaving the desert floor for another time. A few of us were bookin' it out 94, very light traffic, and got caught more than once going in hot at the corners... DJ... need to change those shorts? Pics of the border fence literally across the road at Jacumba and what's with that gap in the fence half way up the hill? Fairlaner and others will be posting pics.

From Jacumba back west on 8 to Sunrise Hwy and up to the top of the range with terrific views out to the desert below. On the lower straights, Fairlaner tops 140 in a duel with a new corvette... *****. Just to mix it up a bit, we went south to Cuyamaca Lake and onto Engineer Road, the new-old 'back' way into Julian. Little known but highly effective with extreme twisties and as Jorstin would say, some of us were 'moving rather rapidly'! Lunch at Julian then to Wynola Road, Mesa Grande and up the south grade to the top of Palomar and down the front, yea, that one. a few more hot corner moments, Tony?, then split up to head home.

Tony, Steve and I continued the fun with the Old Julian Hwy to the back side of Ramona then Wildcat Canyon Road.

Thanks: Fairlaner140, I got poop in my pants DJBill, Shut the **** up Jorstin, Malve I don't need no stinkin' passport, I ride for food Beemerdon, Bill Hailey the Cometman, I'm Brian the slutty ManWhore, need more beans Johnny80's and FJstar I got poop in my pants too.

Food Report:

I ate breakfast (Frosted Flakes) before I left home. They were Greeaat! I picked Neil in Escondido and we rode down to meet the pack. Met up with Chuy Medina (BeemerDon) at a little mexican place by the Starbucks. After taping up my glove with the hole in the palm I went in the restaurant and found Don eating a plate full of mexican stuff. He had pretty we decimated it before I got there so I am not sure what it was. He said it was something Grande. I fel that was appropriate for a founding member of Los Robustos. We took off and rode awhile, it was a great riding day, and a little later we hit a gas station for a snack of cashews and water, oh and some gas. That held me until lunch. I was told we going to take the direct route to Julian to eat so I was excited because I was hungry. I am always hungry. I knew I was in trouble when I saw the sign for Julian and it was to the right and we were going left. I thought, "Oh crap they are not gonna let me eat again." To make matters worse the group stopped next to the firefighters fundraiser BBQ. I was thinking, "Cool BBQ, why aren't we getting off the bikes?" My question was soon answered when we started moving and and went right by the BBQ. Next thing I know we are on one of those Goat Paths that I find myself on when riding with Richard and Roy. It's always a bad sign when the road does not have a line down the middle. It was surprisingly fun and I had a good time. The nice thing about the Goat Path was that it dropped us right into Julian. After little parking hassle we found spots and went in to the Rong Branch Cafe. As Richard said this place is not going on the list of Los Robustos recommended eateries. I got the "need more beans" nickname since my side of beans was mostly liquid with about 7 beans in it and piece of bacon fat. I did try one of Fairlaner's fried chicken livers and it was not bad but not good. As always Fairlaner rated the fish and chips as "*****" but we expected that. On an up note we did induct Cometman in Los Robustos. He always orders a full meal when we ride including desert. He's a good man in my book. After lunch we rode some more and then split from the group at the end. Chuy, Cometman and myself ended up in Fallbrook at Rosa's. This is the best place taco shop in town and they have a great tomatillo salsa. We had some chips, tacos and cervza and ice tea then split off to our separate ways. Chuy went to the Orange street fair for some more food and family time, while Cometman took off back to Alpine. I went home for some family time and managed to fall asleep before my two year old twins.

This was a great time and Roy and Richard lead a great ride.

Someone post the route up please.

I am [ate??] breakfast (Frosted Flakes) before I left home. They were Greeaat!
Frosted Flakes are a national asset. I'd love to see any backwards nation try to match that accomplishment...American ingenuity rocks.

Well. for the Los Robustos, it seemed like a great ride. I couldn't figure out if you guys ate or rode more. By the reading of the post, more comments were made about food then riding. Of course Juan only wrote about food, to be expected.

Looked like fun guys, glad all went well and the weather cooperated.

What, Fairlaner escaped the law again?

Great post Roy, and nice pix from Richard.

Mas bien caminos y mas grande amigos! More good roads and more great friends! An incredibly fantastic riding day with truly great motorcyclists! Spirited, but in control, bike handling by gentlemen that obviously have seen many kilometers on motos!

Many thanks to Richard-Fairlaner and Roy-McRide for organizing this SoCal ride; and many thanks to NeilInSanDiego for riding sweep position. The Engineer Road was the highlight of my riding day. Also was nice to meet johnny80s in person. Magnifico!

Absolutely great ride Richard! I cut out after lunch to get some much needed shut eye cuz the carb container (Johnny80’s, alias El Presidente Robusto) kept me up till 2:30a helping me install my new Hella light kit. Things stopped working for me directly after lunch because I only got two hrs, sleep after leaving Fallbrook (Johnny’s house) and arriving in Lakeside at 3:30a. Me eyes were no longer focusing…Got home and crashed on the couch, that’s why I am setting here doing this at midnight cuz my little friggin nap ruined the rest of me normal sleep pattern… Thanks again Johnny for all you do for everyone else!! I might add you got your **** together with knowledge of the farkel installs. U b a damn handy guy to have around…

Bunch of good guys I had yet to meet and hope to ride with again. Rode with a few that I’ve ridden with before and will absolutely ride with again…Hope I didn’t miss too much after Julian, but it would have been dangerous for me to continue flying with the likes of the "R" man…..

The Manwhore! Wide awake!!!!

PS. I posted this last night on the original thread organizing the ride, but it's now pretty much a "dead thread", (it just happens, I dono how I do it... ) so to speak!

The unknown rider is a Bambi eater!

BTW - That's the most ATGATT I've ever seen Malve wear. :D

Since McRide rides with all of you (us) clowns, his nick name should be, What me worry. :p

Cool stuff Neil, thanks.

Chuck from hwy94.com is offering our a group a special of $10.00 for those pics from the 5th (the JPEGs). I feel that is reasonable so I'm buying mine.
