Morro Bay, Half Moon or Blue Moon restaurant for lunch. Overlooking the bay and harbor.Sit on the outside patio and enjoy one of the best crab cocktails ever.
Ahh.... Now that sounds goooooood! I had thought that Morro Bay might be a good stopping point for food and rest. Thanks for the confirmation. I will indeed stop there on my route and savor the food and sights. The price doesn't scare me so much because I am not driving a cage anymore and the savings in gas alone will more than pay for some luxury's like that.
Thanks again!!

If you get hungry before Morro Bay, two other options come to mind: 1) the "restaurant" in Lucia (your sitting on the edge of the cliff with the ocean below) service can be a little slow but the food is great (whoops  I just jinxed it), and 2) the Inn at Ragged Point you're off the water but a minutes walk to the cliffs.
I don't remember the distance from Ragged Point south (1/2 way to Hearst Castle may be) is the Elephant Seal beach well worth the stop if they're in. This past Sunday there were a bunch there. Good parking just off Hwy 1 and the beach.
Depending on how far you have to get, your interests, and the tourist load, a Hearst Castle tour is interesting. You park below and they bus you up and back.
Be careful on Hwy 1 along the Big Sur coast line!!! Sunday I was riding to the "right" and even then several RVs decided they had better things to do that stay on their half of the road (oh I forgot, they can change which half is their's at any time with no notice  ) Two of the times were right hand turns for me with with little room for an escape - guard rail and then several hundreds of feet to the water below.
Just South of Lucia, ?maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 mile?, there is slide area being patched. It's packed dirt, rocks and gravel and pot holes. Don't get on the throttle coming out of Lucia as you will be on the brakes soon.
Have a great trip!!
