Just watching Saturday morning practice live as I write. The qualifying practices last an hour and it gets juicy in the last 5 minutes as they all pull in to put on sticky rubber. Sometimes its better than the race.

At the 30 minute stage, Casey Stoner has put in the fastest terminal speed on the huge straight which may well count a lot in the race. A shade under 204mph.

He is currently 14mph faster than Hayden and 11mph faster than Rossi down the straight. 204mph every lap then brake for a 2nd gear corner... Must take some nerve. They hold flat out for 9 seconds on the straight.

Hopper is flying again, I am sure he will break through soon.

Stoner pulled in SIEZED!! Only 14 minutes left & races back to the pit for bike #2

6 Minutes to go and all the top runners come in for qualifying tyres.

Capirosi and Vermulen crash out in final minute Vermulen's fault took Loris out.

QUALIFYING RESULT AND FINAL GRID POSITIONS

Rossi 1st When all the other grid places are decided by hundredths and thousandths of a second, Rossi set the fastest lap this morning by 1.4 seconds and a full 10mph slower than the Ducati down the straight.

Rossi set a new lap record on the 800cc Honda even faster than last year on the 990. Rossi admitted afterwards that he was astounded at the time and didn't know how he had done it. I do....genius.

Edwards 2nd

Hopper 3rd

Stoner 4th on bike#2 which was not set up, which seems strange to me that they don't make the changes to bike#2 at the same time they do it to bike #1.

Hayden 9th
