I saw a guy on a Ninja making a left turn, rather aggressively, but nothing too crazy. Tires just shot right out from underneath him. Fortunately, the guy was geared up properly. He only got a little road rash on his leg and twisted his ankle a bit.

When I asked him what happened he told me he his tires were cold. He only rode out of the neighborhood and tried to take a corner like that. With a little gas and cold tires is just spun right out.

Anyway, Just a reminder for everyone to be safe and remember to warm up your tires before taking any aggressive turns.

I always take it easy when starting because I know the bike is cold & my mind is not attuned to the ride yet.

When starting a ride I usually do a few minutes of lazy 'S' weaves to lightly scrub a layer off of the tires. Nothing too strenous or forced, just enough to get things going in the right direction. After that road there's a few miles of highway, so I figure they're at operating temp after that. Not that I corner the bike that hard though, my chicken strips are usually 1/2-3/4 inch & my last set of Avons lasted me 12K miles ...

I like that excuse....."my tires were cold". Mine from here on out.

Tires were cold??

I prefer, "I leaned so far over that I was spilling my beer on the road and then the rear washed out in the suds".

That would imply a lack of skill on Odot's part. Better to stick with the weather, we all know he wouldn't lose a drop even if the tires were cold ! :D

I like to keep my beer in one of my sons "Sippy Cups" while on the bike. That way it doesn't spill, and cause me to wipe out. Also, if I don't finish the beer, I can just give the cup back to the 11 month old, and he sleeps better that night. :D

Anyone who guns it right out of the gate, without allowing things to get warmed up falls into the dumb-ass zone.
