The local group of HOG was having a fund raiser Saturday morning. They have a donation ride they call the "Ride to The Border". It's about 90 miles north to Oroville. But they weren't leaving until 10:00, I wanted to start earlier. So at 5:00 am I headed out, got to Oroville and thought, Why not? Well I can tell you it was beautiful in about the entire state. Pulled into the driveway at 1:35 Sunday am. 1050 miles later, home safe, but exhaustede. Now to get all the papers in order and get it turned in. Think I will sleep well tonite.

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Awesome! A great weekend too up here. Any latent psychic abilities regarding riding days?
It was beautiful everywhere, couldn't have picked a better day. My last legs were up I 5 to Everett and across stevens pass home.

My question to you, is how do you live over there and cope with the traffic? After 10 pm and I 5 is a sea of cars, don't these people have homes?

But coming up from the south, when you crest that last hill and can see the city, what a beautiful sight. Safeco was still lit up and the city just glowed, would have been a great photo op.

Congratulations on making this milestone.

Can I ask a question of those who want to do a 1000 + day. Isn't this considered a bit dangerous? Exhaustion sets in at some point and we all know that this can be deadly on a M/C.

I do understand the challenge - mountain climbing, etc. but this L/D riding is a bit harder to wrap my head around.

My question is certainly not to diminish your accomplishment. I'm just trying to understand the psychology.

Thanks.

I don't know about others, but being my first attempt, I was kinda jazzed and fatigue didn't set in until about midnight on my last leg. I chose a route that put me in light traffic on a road that I know like the back of my hand.

As far as dangerous, I think if we really considered the danger, we'd all sell these things.

Started out going up to Oroville, then took 20 to Colville, then down thru Spokane to Lewiston. I would ride 20 over and over again. In the morning going over Sherman pass was just perfect.

And to ride 20 from Winthrop to Burlington was my first trip ever on a motorcycle.. It was 1982 on my CBF 750. Then my wife and I took 20 over to WFO in Skagit in 05. Snowmobiled up there for years as well.

Let me know if your coming through Spokane again - not during your next 1000 mile day Lol! and we'll have a ride.

Thanks.

Just checked with DOT and 20 (north cascades) is open. Was a little late, because of late snow storms.

Great job Fred!!! I am jealous.

I rode with the dogged HOGs to Orville -- charity event you know. I am a sucker for a good charity. As I say, "any excuse to ride the FJR is a good excuse". My other favorite saying over the last two years "There are other forms of transportation??:"

Nevertheless, give me a little notice and I will gladly ride with you for your next 1000.

Again, Congrats.

I'm still up for the one we kinda planned. Maybe we could pick up Gerry as we go through Spokane. Then he'd only have to ride 700 miles. ;) Talk with you next week.
