Just wanted to say goodby and thanks for all the great information and tech tips from my fellow members.

3 weeks ago, I was offered a deal on the FJR in a trade for an 07 Goldwing I couldn't pass up. I really loved the FJR for solo riding, but found that 2-up for long periods was just beating my poor little wife too much, despite different seats and pads. Even for me, it became a chore after 3 hours in the saddle and always felt pretty beat after long rides. Make no mistake, I still think it is the best sport tour bike out there bar none, but the type of riding I am doing now with the longer rides and daily commute, the wing is the way to go for me. Take care and ride safe.

Warchild, keep up the great work on this board. It is the best one out here.

Doesn't have to be goodbye forever. I'm sure we'd like some input from an ex-FJR riding Goldwing owner. :)

I have spent some money getting my FJR to a configuration that I feel is optimal for 2up riding. If I were stuck with a stock FJR, I might be looking for something more comfortable for the long haul too.

There may come a time when you come across a Wing farkle where you think:

"I could have done that on my FJR"

Let us know.

Good luck

The 'Wing is no Semi and it's no day bed. Go ride one before passing judgment. It's a hell of a machine.

Congrats on the new ride.

Good luck with the Wing. I have ridden one and it is a very nice machine. I hope your new found Goldwingers can keep up with you.

+1. You'll find that riders is riders, no matter the machine. Aaaannndd, there are a number of FJR owners who also own Honda's fine touring bike.

I'm leaving too. I traded my FJR in for a very nice daybed.....

They even threw in pillow shams!
How's the cornering clearance on that daybed? Bet it's tough to get leaned over for a decent turn. Then again, it must be real comfy for the longer days.

;) Jill
Ok, so your tellin me its tough getting leaned over on a daybed for a "decent turn". Your just riding pillion with the wrong driver B)

Stop - must get mind out of gutter

:p :D :p

D-

Happy Hondaing and a merry kwanza to u.

Best of luck and enjoy your new Wing.

I bought my '06 FJR a couple of months ago, and I was planning to sell my '98 Honda Gold Wing 1500SE to ease the financial pinch, but I'm hanging on to the Wing for now. Granted, it's not the faster, more rigid 2001+ 1800cc Wing, but despite the FJR's prowess in most things, I'd rather tackle a 1000+ mile ride on the Wing. Reverse gear, good (100hp) power and handling due to low-mounted Porshe-like 6-cylinder c.g., air compressor, luggage space galore, iPod wired into the 4 speaker stereo, intercom, and incredible a seating comfort. How could I sell my BarcaLounger on 2 wheels?!

Good luck to you, I made the exact change to a wing and it was the best for me as well. I really liked the FJR but the wing is the creme for me. I owned both at the same time and was under no financial pressure to choose, I just never chose to ride the feejer or the boss hoss for that matter. The wing is just so comfortable and well performing, the other 2 were collecting dust in my garage. Greg
