Hmm, might try this. Yesterday I just got a 12 long scratch on my left side case,

I was thinking about just using a black magic marker but I like the syringe idea.

I'm sure that's better than using the big brush that comes with all touch-up paint bottles.

Whether that's a good way to go or not, the girl giving the demo sure is easy on the eyes

Thanks, you're right on time. I've been fretting over a 3" scratch in the plastic on the right side, directly over the battery. Tried to save $$ over the $440 quote for 4000 mile service by hiring a recent motorcycle school grad. He made the scratch but I didn't mention it because he "did me a favor". Anyway looks like a great solution. Guess I'm going to the dealer for my 8000 miles ($330 plus parts)

holy crap.... are you my ex wife? How did you even find out about this forum??? Leave me alone!!!!!

jeeeze, I didn't say she was perfectly hot or anything. My eyes hardly ever left her cans, to be truthful. But regardless of your picky standards, she IS a refreshing change from your usual automotive tutorial spokesperson. Can we at least agree on that much?

Read your owner's manual a little closer. There is no 4k service, or 8k service. Those are called "oil changes". Parts would be oil, oil filter and a crush washer. If you read closely on the "Periodic Maintenance and Minor Repair" section and table of your manual you will note that there are only "check" areas at those intervals. At 8k it is suggested you replace the spark plugs, but that's a bit over kill.

If you're paying someone to do all the checks, STOP THAT. All you're really doing is paying someone to do more damage than good while trying to perform mostly unnecessary work. Do it yourself and you'll learn a heck of a lot more and know what needed to be looked at, and was could have been left well enough alone.

Apologies for the hijack.

That's what you get for sharing oft-visited URLs with (or losing the computer to) the ex. Looks like she got the Ducati 1098 in the split too?!?

I used to do a similar trick. Instead I used a calligraphy-type pen and dipped it in the paint. The results were better than the syringe method because you don't have to worry about pushing the syringe plunger.
