Well, my all-weekend project has been postponed (love Navy indecisiveness). The upside is that I have Saturday to ride. I have a 5k run/walk Sunday morning and then the rest of Sunday free.

Sure has been quiet since Ojai after the 4th of July. I know you guys had WFO, but has everyone taken a break from organized rides? I got an invite from Fairlane last weekend at the last minute after I'd already left for the day and an invite to go Thursday, but haven't seen any "we're gonna meet up north of LA" kind of stuff for over a month. Is it just that time of year here, getting the munchkins back in school or what?

Hmmm, I guess I never see the heat as being an issue since I came from the Midwest where there was true heat because humidity was added for steam (there's a REASON they grow crops there, it's a GREENHOUSE). But, I'm spoiled here, too, because I live close enough to the shore that candy-butts here whine if the thermometer gets up to 80 or, God-forbid, 85.

It's not just riding communities that have been quiet. I think it's just the time of year when everyone is preparing for that change from summer to fall. Kids going back to school, families taking vacations while they can, etc etc. Just surprised because I thought the community here was deep enough that the odds would still be good that SOME other folks were meeting up. No biggie, though, I'm off for some solo runs NE into the mountains to find new roads.

GUNNY...

I shouldn't really do the posting/organizing, as I'm somewhat still the newer kid here. If one of the vets gets involved, I'm all over it.

 I am booked up the next two weekends but am interested in getting in on a good ride.

How about the weekend of the 7th? I have every other Friday off and that is one of them. I have been looking at riding from Sabre Springs where I live, out on Scripps Poway Parkway to the 67. Up through Julian, out past Lake Cuyamaca, over the 8 and into Jamul via Japatul Truck Road. Catch onto Lyons Valley Road and to the 94, turn toward Campo and come out on the 8 near Boulevard. Run up to just West of El Centro and catch the road up toward Salton Sea. From there hop on the 79 and back into Julian again, stop for lunch and then some apple pie. :D

Leave Julian headed toward Santa Ysabel but taking Farmer Road out of Julian to Wynola Road which is a rather nice twisty one. Once at Santa Ysabel, turn onto the 79 and head to the 76 past Lake Wolford then through the Pala Indian Reservation to the 15. At the Arco Station we could all go our seperate ways. So far I haven't really looked closely at the map to see what the exact ride times would be, but I can do that and plan out the stop points. This should prove to be a long day though. I am even thinking of possibly adding some additional leg to it possibly up to Palm Springs, stay over night and then finish the back leg up in the morning after breakfast. Let me know if this sounds like a plan to any of you out there. If not, I am probably still going to do it solo. ;)

I am not the fastest guy out there and am still a noob on the twisties as some of you that rode with me on the Fallen Officer ride up to Calabassas can attest to. But I figure if we all ride our own ride, set some meet up and rest points, this should turn out to be a good ride. B)

I'm all over that. PM sent with contact info. I still like Barbarus/TWN's idea about Big Bear next weekend as well. (maniacal, possessed face on) MUST GROPU RIDE....MUST GROUP RIDE.... Seriously, for me, it's my comfort zone because I can learn about areas that others know and still have the safety in numbers that a solo run lacks...
