I winged my way up to the great PNW to meet up with my sister-from-another-mother and some of those crazy PNW folks for the IMS. Christ & Diane, the DABRITs, cheerfully greeted me at the airport on Friday evening with a sign that was hard to miss. :
We rose bright and early to meet everyone for breakfast and one of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve had in a long time. Santa was unable to attend so he sent one of his elves, Dave/Niehart, in his place and he did a fine job (except he moved too fast for my camera!)
Then it was off to the show where the Tenere was generating much interest and we found many folks gathered around one of the floor samples. Kevin/Panman hopped on – looks good on him, don’cha think?
UH OH, George…
Barb and I bandied about the place checking out bikes and gear and all the doodads and thingamabobs being hawked. Barb tried on an Arai helmet and thought she’d see how it felt for a few minutes while trying another type of vehicle on for size.
Laughed at a few of the t-shirts being sold… surprised some of you PNW folks didn’t buy one of these:
We both took a fancy to the same pair of sunglasses so decided to model them while taking a break at a good people watching spot.
That evening, all the PNW folks pooped out on us (weenies) so we took to the streets for dinner and drinks on our own. What says it better than Santa Gorilla?
Holiday cheer was out in force even though the Pineapple Express was as well. Thank goodness for spare hotel umbrellas else we would have been drowned rats!
In true FJR fashion, we ended up here.
Romantic setting…
And this was my view… took everything I had to avert my eyes but it was a challenge… kind of a like a train wreck… horrifying but you just can’t look away (and I ain’t talking about Barb… look closely).
We had a few drinks, shared a few stories, laughed a lot, and then headed back to our hotel. The next morning, Barb took me to Pike’s Market for fishy fun and brunch. It was quite an experience as the fish mongers mongered and tossed their catch back and forth as they made a sale. We both took home some garlic peppered smoked salmon… omg, was that stuff GOOD!!!
Barb needed to mosey on back to CahNahDuh so once again I was left in the very capable DABRIT Taxi & Tourist Service.
We drove over to the other side of the water to look back at the city view. Bet it’s pretty spectacular in the sunshine!
This lone bird was drying out his wings but looked like he was doing his best Karate Kid impersonation to me…
Then we drove over to see Snoqualmie Falls which normally looks like this…
But due to the massive amount of rain over the past few days, it looked like a smaller version of Niagra Falls! The mist at the bottom viewing platform was extremely heavy and kept spraying me in the face… my first try at a photo only came up with this…
So I headed farther up toward the top of the falls for a better photo opportunity… can you hear the thunder of the water as is crashes down below?
Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me when she puts on her very best show.
And with that, it was back to the airport and head for home – again, many thanks to Chris and Diane for their generosity in toting me around.. Was great seeing the PNW gents, even if for only a short while (weenies). And, as always, time with Barbalicious is always well spent time. :
