All packed up, all jazzed up. Ready to go. Now, if there's some way I can catch some solid Zzzzz tonight, I'll be all set. I plan to make Des Moines, Iowa before I stop tomorrow night. Leaving Pikesville, MD at 0500.

Everyone please ride safely. See you soon.

Bring some nose plugs when you iowa. Them pig farmers don't mess around.

I leave the Twin Cities early am Tuesday. If yur slabbin' it there, perhaps we'll see each other en route. I plan North Platte Tues pm, via Des Moines and Omaha. Room reserved, if ya need a bed, a cheap split.

The WFO-5 should be one hell of a gathering of feejers. The WFO-3 was the biggest gathering put on by the same folks that is putting on this shing ding in a few days. Warchild and HMac, do you thing you could arrange a roof shot for me or some other vantage point to corral all these steads?

Here is a roof shot at the WFO-3.

In the foreground, that's Warchild on the right and HMarc to his right and then on our far left is ElFireBob.

He is cursing about his boss cancelling his planned time off for the WFO. Nanc is really bummed too. They did trade their spank tank in for something much roomier. I dropped by their abode a month ago and noticed their trailer gone and immediately knew they were out on a test run. They are hard ones to pin down. Always got something in the fire.

Like blazing trails in Monument Valley:

You're going to need a long lens if you take a "roof shot" @ the hotel. IIRC. its about 18 floors. The best idea might be to park them in the parking lot and take a picture from the covered parking area in a Westerly direction. Or, perhaps from a ladder, shooting under the cover toward the South entrance. You'll have to wait until you "scope out" the area and then decide with the org. committee.

I just happened to think that the porch for the South door (looking out over the parkiing area) is raised...8 or 10 steps. That and a ladder should get you enough elevation and still be able to "shoot" under the roof line. The problem will be the SHADOW over the parking area compared to the bright ambient light, but a pro like yourself should ba ble to come up with a solution...that and putting powder on Dale's head to cut down the reflection.

If it's a daytime shoot, the shutter could be stopped down or under exposed. A night time shoot would require a tripod and time exposure. Nobody move. Right. <_<

If I have room and I think of it, maybe I could squeeze the tripod onboard.
