I heard a number once about how much of the price of a regular tire went to cover legal and insurance costs. Don't remember what it was, but it caught my attention. My guess is that liability concerns will keep this off the market.

All 2008 cars and light trucks have tire pressure monitor systems. FED mandate. Bikes might take a few more years.

A good idea for most people, to lazy to maintain proper pressures.

Self inflating tire sounds good. Better if its in the wheel, not tire.

Actually, most of the trailers our company owns have automatic inflation for the tires. A light on the front indicates that the system is sending air to the tires, and should be checked soon. This system has saved me countless service calls and downtime. If the system is maintaining pressure from a slow leak, just keep driving and get it fixed when possible.

Obviously not the same as the link, but a similar system would work on just about any tire with some simple mods.
