Just a girl in the world, having rode 3 FJRs
Thanks to everyone for making it out this year despite the constant rain. I'm gonna keep this brief because we're about to order some pizza here at the hotel.
I'm very proud to tell the rest of you that this very generous group of riders donated about $1450 to Carroll County Habitat for Humanity! We auctioned off the tool sets and a ladies leather jacket as previously mentioned on Friday night. Then FJRBoomer got up and passed the hat and brought in another $800! I'm very impressed with this group of riders. Not only were there very very few complaints about the weather but they also gave some pretty big money to a great cause.
It was raining when we arrived on Thursday but it stopped in time for a nice night under the tent. Friday dawned cold, with thunder and lightning. Around 10 am, the courthouse downtown was struck by lightning! Only being about a half mile from it, it seemed like we felt it too. No one was hurt though. Friday continued to be the wettest day in Eureka but most folks took off and headed to drier parts and got in some excellent riding. The only incident of the weekend happened Friday and the damage was extremely minor thanks to some custom crash bars on the FJR. The windscreen popped off and that was replaced on Saturday. Saturday's rain was spotty, still cold and more folks stayed in and hung out around ES. We had a great banquet that night too! I must add my apologies to Twistedcricket and Rockabill as a proper shout out and thank you for gathering most of the prizes was not done. You 2 did a great job for me and it helped make the evening a success. THANK YOU!!! :clapping:
There's only 4 of us here now and we're all leaving in the morning. Tomorrow should be dry and 70 and I'm looking forward to it! B)
