Title says it all, has anyone installed a SHAD topcase on an '06 yet? Wondering if/how their universal mount bolts up to the new rack.

I do believe our friend Pierre from the Azores islands has a SHAD, and was extolling it's virtues not too long ago.

apierre introduction thread...

and here...

Pierre talks about his topcase

Granted, it's on an '05, but beggars can't be choosers... and he might be able to give you some insight...
I had contacted Pierre (nice fellow), he didn't know mounting details. From looking at picks, it looks like the '03-'05 tailracks are open, made of tubes (piss poor description).

The '06 is one solid piece of plastic (a step backwards IMHO), makes me wonder if the generic attachment plate for the shad will work.

Hi guys. Yes, I have installed a SH48 SHAD topcase on my '06. It was one of the first things I ordered way back in November as I recall. I got it from Claudio Ferrer at Adventure Moto down in West Palm Beach. Claudio is a very nice and helpful vendor.

The universal mount works very well on the '06 tail rack. However you will have to drill some holes in the tail rack for mounting the metal plate. Then, the plastic top mounting plate attaches to the "inner" metal mounting plate. The SHAD case seems to be of excellent quality and looks better...in my opinion...than the overpriced OEM top case. The SHAD case was under $300 for everything and you can get a back pad and brake light accessories too.

Here is Claudio's web site: https://adventuremotousa.com/new_page_20.htm

I would post a picture of my top case if I knew how to do it on here  . However, I did e-mail Claudio several pictures of my bike for him to see, and per his request. I'm sure he would be happy to share his pictures and info on my install. Just tell him Jim in Tennessee sent you :D .

Hope this helps some!
