Are there any rides, or any interest to ride from Reno up to Shasta Lake duing or after WFO? Can someone plan a nice loop for a day trip for a Day Long? I may see if I can set up a ride in during WFO. Maybe. Or maybe just go tour and check out the shop.

That'd be a heckuva day trip! If you're having a seat built, it takes all morning and a couple of hours into the afternoon.....like, from 0800-1400. Not much of a shop to "tour", since you can only see the office and look into the shop (four or five commercial sewing machines). Their biggest business is canvas and seats for boats (Think: platform/party boats, houseboats, cabin cruisers).

Depending on what the SO has planned I could be tempted.... The ride could be very scenic with the proper route choice. OTOH, it could also be hotter (than you know what) if the weather isn't cooperating.

The end of July, you better plan on 100+ in Redding/Shasta.

Yep, that there is what I was referring to... maybe just stay with a dip in that cold lake that is close.

Thanks MM2. Didn't know how the process worked. And it's what, about 3.5 - 4 hours from Reno? Would be an over-nighter with time in the shop. Guess they'll just have to do my seat from photos.

Also, didn't realize that any part of Cali got that hot.

The central valley gets HOT. From Redding/Mt. Shasta in the North to Bakersfield in the South (just above the Tehachapi Mtns) this valley has consecutive days of 100+ temps. Here in Sacramento we've been in the mid-nineties all week. Why do you think we love to ride to the coast or in the Sierra Nevada Mtns.? Even the foothills (Hwy 49 and the "Gold Country") gets in the 100s in the summer.
