OK, I know. The title should read "Sheepskin Seat Pad Group Buy!

When I started riding a couple of years ago, the back of my pants would get damp after about thirty minutes of riding, winter or summer. Not only was this uncomfortable, but on long rides, I'd get 'monkey-butt'. I researched the issue, and bought a wooden bead seat cover, but that didn't do it for me. I then bought a sheepskin cover from Alaska Leather, and WOW! was it great!

I put the butt pad on my VStar 1100, and have not had a wet butt in the 6,000 miles since. When I got my FJR, the first farkle I ordered was the butt pad, and although I rode the bike before the pad arrived, and had wet pants again, I have not had a damp butt in the12,000 miles since the pad was installed.

Since our recent group buy on Russell seats was a success, I called Barb at Alaska Leather and asked her if she would do a group buy on butt pads for the Russell seats. She went farther than I asked. Here's the deal she proposed:

Alaska Leather will offer a 20% discount on their sheepskin butt pads. The 20% discount will be IN ADDITION to the discount they offer on their weekly specials. This offer expires on December 31, 2009.

For instance, the discount on butt pads on their weekly special this week is 30% off of list. So our discount will be 20% off the remaining 70%, or 44% off of list. Is that a deal or what? The weekly deal changes each week, so go to their website and click on weekly specials to see what the deal is at any time.

Here's the caveats. Credit cards only, --no PayPal for this extra discount. Of course, no discount on postage. That's it--those are all the 'hookers'.

I strongly urge you to buy one of these seat pads. For as much as a 50% discount, how can you go wrong? Look at their stuff at www.Alaskaleather.com.

When ordering, use our group buy code "buttbuy"in the promotion code box. Also, if you submit an order, send me a short email so I can keep a tally of how many orders we're sending them. Send the email to [email protected] and put 'buttbuy' in the subject line.

If you have any questions, give me a holler.

Would anyone from the East coast that participates in this GB, take one for me and then send it via USPS padded envelope to me in Germany? I could of course PP the money to the buyer.

Agreed Geezer.. Though not for the same reason. :D Sheep and butts ya know ;)

Actually, I might have to look into one of em. Thanks Howard

Very tempting, "butt" what size would be a best fit for the FJR seat? I have a Bill Mayer seat, but it's only marginally wider then stock.

Do you get 30% off then 20% off the remaining price or do we get 50% off the top? There is a difference in price.
I just ordered one it's 20% off of the 30% off price. So my $44 pad cost $25 not a full 50% off but a real good deal still. Thanks Howard for setting this up!!

Tell them you have an FJR, and they know what seat cover to make. If your seat is different than the stock seat, take a picture or two and measure the seat so they can make a pattern. Or better yet, call Barb at Alaska Leather and she'll tell you how to proceed.

I've got an Alaskan sheep ass on my Rick Mayer seat. Fits no problem.

That being said, it does help, but after a few thousand kilometers, theirs not much difference once it gets 'packed down'.

So what size did you get to fit Bill Mayer Seat. 18x18?

I ordered one and thanks for setting this up.

But... I'm not sending anyone an email with "buttboy" in the subject line.

What version is the best for the feej?Deluxe -- Rally special -- Long hair?
Good question! I bought the rally special recently. I used it for the whole SW-FOG trip in September 2009. Total miles was 2200. This skin made a big difference. I would not have gone without it. Although, after 500 miles and on a stock seat it does get matted down and my butt was uncomfortable. I think I would go with the longer hair but those may get matted down also.

my 2 cents.

I called Alaska Leather to see what size to order for my 07. I was told by the gentleman who answered that it takes the medium, but the only medium on the weekly special is a cream color. I am not sure I would like the looks of the cream. For black and grey he told me to check out the medium deluxe at $54.95 which I did, but it is not a weekly special. He did offer me a 10% discount. I guess I will wait for the the deluxe to show up as a weekly special.

Just thought I'd throw this in...

I always run the BeadRider (makes any seat 10x better). So being stuck in Flori-duh when the temps come down a little I usually strap the sheepskin pad (from Aerostich) over the BeadRider for extended slab rides - this combination works really well.

Before I got my Russell seat, I would run the stock seat until about the first 400 miles of the day, then put the sheepskin on after that for good effect! I was glad for that sheepskin coming home to Chicago area from AR.

Ok Howard thanks for setting this up. I just pulled the trigger. They just put medium charcoal's on the weekly special list. so with shipping it was only $26 bucks. Great deal. I hope it works for me like it has worked for others
