Hi Kevin,

It just so happens that I was visiting the PQS offices here in Burlington today, so I was able to investigate Glenn's questions with our Lubes folks directly.

Rotella T is our Global Brand for Heavy Duty Diesel Engines. Both the Rotella T 15W-40 and the Rotella T 10W-30 are rated for both diesel and gasoline engines, therefore theoretically they could be used in a motorcycle application. That being said, the folks at our Lubes Technical folks will not officially make such a recommendation, and any motorcycle owner should always consult their owner's manual for the type and grade of oil they should use.

Pennzoil does currently carry two conventional (non-synthetic) motorcycle lubricants in Canada. They are Pennzoil Motorcycle Oil 10W-40 and 20W-50. We do not currently carry either SKU within our Consigned Retail Channel, nor are they readily available in other channels in Canada. More info on the products can be found in the link below.

With regard to Shell branded Motorcycle Oils, globally we do produce a wide variety of Motorcycle Oils (12-15 SKUs) which are marketed under the Shell Advance brand name. This line-up has proven be very popular in countries where motorcycles or motor scooters are a common form of transportation.

That being said, given the extremely short motorcycle season in Canada, and the relative "unpopularity" of motorcycles as a form of transportation in this country, our lubes folks don't feel the market in Canada is strong enough to support a launch of the global Advance Motorcycle SKUs. Info on the Advance Motorcycle oils can be found in the link below.

I hope that helps to answer Glenn's questions. Please feel free to forward this onto him at your convenience.

Thanks,

Kevin

Subject: Motorcycle Oils

Hello Michele

I am an avid rider of motorcycles

On every forum I go into the people on the forums talk about using Rotella oils in their bikes

I know that this oil is not made for motorcycles but it seem there is a huge following for it.

They say they love it because its a great oil and it is cheap (inexpensive)

I have seen on some of our web site i.e. - Shell UK that Shell make specific oils for motorcycles.

Some of the members of these forums that are from Europe rave about the Shell lubricant line that they have access to.

I have seen the Advanced oils for Snowmobiles and Marine on the shelves at Canadian Tire but never any motorcycle oils.

I have looked through other suppliers i.e. - Motovan (www.motovan.com) and have not seen any of our products

I know Shell has an incredible reputation for their lubricants and a big following for them

Why do we not have these products in the North American region yet.

All the Best

and

Thanks

Ummmm....how is this not oil? And how is this FJR related?

Moving to Other Bike/Bike Related Discussion and not NEPRT as it, at least, appears to be new information.

Well OK if you have to <_<

Just don't wan't it to turn into an NEPRT

And still hoping it won't

This is just info on why the product in not in North America

I was hoping now that Shell Canada and Shell Oil USA are 100% owned by the Royal Dutch that they would be

bringing the oil line to North America but does not look that way.

The way they talk in the note I got back I am suprized anyone would supply oil for this very tiny market.

Must be more boats than bikes in Canada as the Advanced Marine oils are sold at Canadian Tire

Later
