The "waiting" support here is great,..pics,advice,questions,answers,bitching,whining,..... But When it's Time it's Freaking Time,....

Woke up this morning the sun was shining and said Fug it -2 C or not,.... she's gettin' her *** here. So in to Glenn's i go, finalize the stuff,... Have people look

at me sideways for climbing on a bike @ below 0.....And head for dodge.

Yes,......It was a cold ride home but worth it.... :yahoo:

She is a big girl compared to the YZF600R so i can tell that there will be more of a think ahead an extra second or so when getting on it (EVEN a little bit). The slow speed stuff when i got back to my shop didn't bother me as much as i expected it would...But i see that at slow speed she "turns in" Very easily for a large bike.

It's Sooooo Awesome to feel all the (little/not so) things that everybody mentions,.. the ones my body and simple mind don't work out i'll ask about.

The only one that i noticed so far that bugged me a little was a high piched whine that i think was comming from below the cluster or tank underside,...I'm guessing this is the fuel pump and i'll get use to it.

cheers,

-Don

The whining noise from under the tank is probably the fuel injectors doing their thing.

Just wait until the break in is done and you can fix the whine, they only whine when you're not cranking on the right-handgrip. The 600R is an awesome bike, I had the opportunity to put a few miles on a 2003 model and felt right at home immediately, but the FJR is so much more. It's so much more refined and comfortable, though I do miss the little 600 for doing hooligan-type stuff, that little bit extra weight shows itself sometimes. Congratulations, don't worry about problems others have had with the bike, if there are any, they will show themselves in time.

I see you're in PEI, we'll have to meet up some time this summer, have you heard of the ALDERS Rally? click here!

Congrats Don,

It was beautiful here in Nova Scotia today but haven't got my 04 on the road yet. Another 2 weeks I suspect. If you are over this way give us a shout there are a few FJR owners in this neck of the woods.

-Oh,.... the whine noise was only while sitting a idle, Not while traveling so it was easiy overcome by other light stuff.

Bullit,... Got my YZF600R(NOT R6) new in 03' and just put her on the dealer's floor in december with 36,000 km,... very comfy for a sport bike,...but i'm wanting to do more multiple day's w' wife. Hence the drive home today.

Gypsy,... As my comfort level improves i'll be in contact. And getting on the rider support group thingy fer shure..

Cheers

Congrats!! I've got less than 50 days until I pick up my '06 from the dealer. I've been waiting since last september to pick it up . I'm envious. Enjoy the ride. Be safe.

Greg,

Gotta give you guys credit up North there for having the cajones (balls) to ride in the cold. Not that it doesn't get cold here in the desert at 5000', but sure as heck not as cold as "0", yikes!

Congrats on the new mount.

DonRed7, congrats on your new baby. You will enjoy this ride like no other. Great for rolling off the red sand island and putting some serious KMs on. In fact think about the Canadian Rally in Ontario. Should be a blast.

Ride safe, John out here on the left coast.

You do know he's talking Celsius right? That would be 28F, still damn cold, but most likely fun anyway. I was out here on New Years day at -4, had to stop every 15 minutes to warm up the fingers, even with the V-Strom hand guards.

Oops,... ummmm.

I have a Question,...If a person were to have their bike in the Diag mode (Without the jumper) in place, Are there any parameters which said ***** (me) could have changed with mindless undireted button pushing.

I don't think that the bike would be able to go into diag mode without the jumper mod. I didn't attemt it before I did the jump on mine, but I assume that it isn't available without it. The jumper isn't that hard to do, it might look confusing, but if you take your time, it will be just fine.

If you do the jump and decide to change anything, make sure to record your settings so that you can return it to normal if needed. Or did you do this already and are trying to figure out where to go next?

Yes,.. it went into Diag mode without the jumper done and i was trying to navigate around without any intelligent direction i'm just scared i may have modified a parameter,....Is this possible? I'll print off a copy of the direction's tomorrow to have with me so i can properly navigate the menus and see if anything looks odd.

cheers

Congratulations Don,

I too have just picked up my 07 model. Mine is the Ocean Depth colour.

Now to go see my dentist and get the pearly whites fixed. If I'm gonna be smiling that much..better get the fangs attended too!
