Thanks, CK

PS it will be an FJR, since this is an FJR specific forum.

You might try Uship.com. I have had good luck shipping a charcoal grill and a large scale model airplane across several states. It works kinda like ebay and people offer to move your stuff for a price. They have feedback so you can gauge dependability.

If you're lucky you may save a few hundred bucks, but there is probably no insurance provided so be careful.

Clark,

I used these guys when shipping my new FJR from Minnesota to Arizona. They did a great job and since they handle delicate grand pianos, they can handle our babies also. They have a unique 4 wheel U channel set up that doesn't require crating and protects the bike well. Rates are competive, takes about 7-10 days to pick up, re load in KY and get to the left coast. Driver was very helpful in getting in touch with me and we worked out a delivery time that fit my schedule.

I used these guys. I highly recommend them. They will come to your house to pick up and will drop it off at your destination. Machine does not need to be crated. Roll it on and strap it down.

I bought a pre-owned '06 from Colorado and had it shipped to NH using Haulbikes.com. Cost me around $550.00 IRC. They have a storage facility in the midwest, Ill., I think and the bike get's dropped there waiting for a truck headed to your destination so it can sit for a few days. They are not the quickest but I think they are the most reasonable. They are good at keeping you informed as I called to get an update on if it had left the storage facility. They always knew when it was to arrive. The trucker then calls you to let you know he is in your area and when he expects to arrive. I would use them again if I wasn't in a hurry. I think it took about three weeks between pick up and delivery.

I used those guys as well, shipping my FJR from Minnesota to Texas. Reasonable prices, and the bike was fine, except for some tiny scratches on the tupperware right under the throttle. They had taken the windshield off, which according to Keyboard, shouldn't have happened. They paid my claim, so no issues, but just make sure the bike is not disassembled in any way. With their special dollies, it is not necessary. Good luck.

+1

Used them to ship mine across the country and back again...
Can you guys give me some kind of idea what all this costs. I'm looking at 1,000 miles one way shipping. Any ballpark figures?

GP
Just check out their website for ballpark prices from zone to zone. But call as well because they have promotions running sometimes, also gas rate effects cost as well. Good luck!

But if you really are just shipping it "cross COUNTY", you could ride it over there and walk back!
