I'd like to add some preload into the rear shock and this is by far the least expensive option.

I'd like a new replacement shock eventually, or maybe even replacing the spring would be enough. But my shock has only 5000 miles on it and for now I'm interested in trying this instead.

Does anyone have one of these laying around? 1/4" or 3/16" preferably.

Question for you:

How does one adjust the preload after replacing the spring on a stock shock? I don't think that you can, except by using shims/washers.

If true, I guess the spring had better be the exact right length and rate right out of the box 'cause your preload will be whatever it is.
