Almost nobody here knows me, but I thought I'd show off the SO anyway. Here we are with the bike.

She doesn't ride herself, but she will pretend it's her bike:

I'm not her first husband, but I've known her longer than the previous. I can truthfully say that I've known my wife since she was 9, we've been married 9 years, and we have 2 grandchildren. All true!

Her family lived next door to mine when we were kids, I grew up friends with her brother, she grew up friends with my sisters. I'd always been attracted to her, but geez, she's my best friend's sister. Off-limits, dude.

We almost sort of dated in college, but it just felt weird to me, I guess. Kind of let it fade away.

Found out in summer of '97 that she was back in town, and single, so I called. Actually went to her folks' house and asked how to call, and she happened to be there. Kismet!

We started going out, I hit it off well with the kids (taking them to 6 Flags and to Colorado probably helped) and lo and behold, soon enough we're married and buying a house. Married into teenagers and a 5-year-old. The teens are out, one married with kids, the other trying to decide what to do with herself.

Obviously She likes a nice bike,,,, But We really gotta question her choice in Men.....

Congrats, and have a lot more good years together....

I like the location of the dragon sticker.....I put mine in the same place...

What kind of trunk is that? Looks like a good size and seems to not upset the lines of the bike as bad as others I've seen. Even my wife didn't like the looks of the smaller Givi we saw on a FJR one time.

Ray

Thanks for cropping the first photo. Second is much better!

We should try to hook-up sometime. We have several FJRs over here in Tally town.

Cool story and great pics. Question? What's the deal with your rims? Those look awesome instead of the plain black!!

RayW: Yes, as squeezer stated, the Givi E52. Got it at RL Motorcycles in Thomasville. They had the best price and only 10 bucks for shipping. I don't know what colors they match, but the '03 silver is perfect. I did it because it was cheaper and larger than the Yamaha. Takes two fullface lids easy. You have to replace the luggage rack with Givi's, but Givi's is stronger, I think, tubular steel. Jan says she has plenty of room, but I think it wouldn't hurt if the box was back an inch or two. (I think she just like crowding up on me. . .)

And the [unearned] dragon sticker was on the bike when I bought it. Never been there. Hope to go soon, but probably not till spring. Previous owner knew how to ride, though; peg feelers well worn, and sidestand ground pretty good, too. He took delivery on the bike new in Dec. '02, so it's an early one. (VIN ends in 000061!) My brother says he's seen lotsa guys fall trying to keep up with this guy. I have not that set of skillz.

CaptainB: I met flapsup a month or so ago. He saw my ride report from when I went to visit my brother in P'cola and a couple days later was going by between Tally and P'cola, came down thisaway for lunch. He said there was more than one of you guys in town there. . . . I've only seen one other FJR here in PC, and that was just this morning, a blue one went by into Burger King for breakfast. Beeped, but didn't chat.

Silver Penguin: I actually hate to think about her getting on a bike. She doesn't like riding a bicycle at anything over a good jogging speed. She's content on the pillion, and I'm content having her there. Besides, if she was holding on to me from her own bike, we'd probably crash a lot.

jwilly: Those are how they were when I bought it. Didn't know there was anything special. Polished, with the engine-gray paint in the center and on the spokes and hubs.

I moved mine back 2 inches with some plates. If I can find the pics I'll post them up. Not hard to do! Wife likes it much better!

Good to see you enjoying RW's old bike, if that bike could talk.... I have known it from new, that's actually the seat from my 05 on it, and even rode down to Key West with it 2 years ago, plus too many trips to Daytona and into the mountains of NC and AL.

And by the way you have more character than your brother, and certainly better taste in woman

Just kidding Foosh, if your reading this.

You know my brother, huh? Don't let him tell you I tried to murder him. :p That's his take on the mishap I reported in my ride report.

As for character, I'm the oldest, he's the youngest, and there's a bunch of sisters in between. He had no hope of normality.

Taste in women, absolutely agree. I've seen some of his. . . Oh, hi Steve. What I meant was, see, uh, I mean to say. . . . um, ,

Funny, I am the youngest of 5 kids. My oldest brother is the only other sibling that rides. I'm taking your bro's side and not letting my bro ride anywhere near me!!!

That's better looking than the smaller one. Saw an FJR with what I think is the smaller Givi in the parking garage during the bike show here this year. Even the wife thought it messed up the lines of the bike. She thinks your's looks ok though.

We probably would have to move it back a couple inches. Lets just say that the wife and I are a little ...ummm...thicker(?) ..than we used to be. Had started to do a similar relocation on my old Venture trunk but was usually too busy trying to keep it running to worry about piddly stuff. <sigh>...

!!!!!!! ummm....!!!!!.....DANG! I'd say he has some skills! Sheesh...my feelers only have a bit of rust on them! As for skills...I'll join that club with ya. Sometimes feel like the bike is really wasted on me. Was kind of ashamed to put the dragon stickers on mine...but what the heck...they do look really cool there. I went up with a friend of mine from memphis. He was on his ST1100, me on the FJR and the wives in the Miata. The last weekend in July is the Miata weekend so we went up for that. Got there early on Thursday before all the crazy folks got there and made one run. Had only had the bike for about a month at that point so was still getting a feel for it. Probably shouldn't have gone anywhere near that road but what the heck...I survived. Stuck to the Miata after that. in fact...here's our ride report for that trip if you're interested.

Ray

PS...mine is just a little bit newer than yours...my # ends in 82. previous owner only put 2600 miles on it in 3 years!! what a waste...
