Last year on holiday I was camping and for a couple of days left the bike on its side stand.

When I came to next use it, guess what, it TICKED. It gave me a bit of a fright but after a while the tick went away.

I noticed it again recently. I left the bike on the side stand for a day and when I next started it, it ticked. When I park it on the centre stand, no matter for how long, no tick.

If the tick is shortage of oil somewhere because of the angle it drains away from in the head could it be that unusual wear is taking place if the bike is regularly parked on its side stand.

So, those who have had tickers, did you mostly use the side stand or the centre stand?

Nice Troll pic!

I actually did read in one of the bike magazines in the '80's not to leave your bike idling on the side stand. Something about not getting enough oil to the right side cam bearings and causing premature wear. Probably BS but I haven't let my bikes idle on the side stand since.

Well if that's true, Harleys would be dying a lot sooner.
