I just wired up my '05 FJR with a Sirius Streamer GTR sattelite radio. The one thing I don't like is having all the extra antenna wire to coil up.

While looking through a Wing World magazine I came across these guys,

https://www.dallasmotorcycles.com/XM_Radio/antennamod.htm

They sell replacement antennas for Sirius ($50) and one for XM ($40) with 8 inch leads.

I did a search for others but did not come up with anyone else offering these for less money.

Anyone know different?

Looks like they just cut and spliced in their own plugs with shorter cable. Heck, there was a DIY post here some time ago (search?) about cutting and splicing the cable yourself. Just cut it, re-solder the center wires together at whatever length you want, cover it with shrink wrap, reconnect (or sleeve over) the outter wire mesh and solder that, and cover it all with another layer of shrink wrap. I think I'll try that myself. There sure is a LOT of extra cable there. But I think I still would like 1.5 feet, not 8 inches.

I encourage you to research this topic here and elsewhere. It is possible to do this mod yourself but it's not trivial. Those damn leads are TINY and VERY easy to screw up unless you know what you're doing and even if it works, signal degradation is a real issue.

I guess $50 isn't sounding too bad after all. Since I need the long one for my car, modifying it is not an option.

I find it difficult to pay $50 for an antenna after buying the radio and car kit for $45 after rebate!

I thought the same thing so I just bought the complete kit instead for my Sirius X-act. That way I have another windshield mount, an extra antenna for the bike, an extra power cord, and a new radio for when the other one gets rained on.....

CycleGadgets has a 48" antenna for XM for $30 just for this purpose. Look under the Roady2 page for it. It is a lot less to roll up. Ideally, given the config of my Roady2, just 6 inches would be perfect.
