Looking at map, weather, coast is fog, inland a bit less so...

Skaggs Springs looks adequadetly twisty...

Worth the time?

Currently in Guaglala, Ca

I just rode it for the first time and it's a hoot. Downside: it gets you off the coast, and that's a hoot too, but a different one. I'm guessing you've been on the coast a lot already, so it's a nice change of pace--takes you down into the wine country, and that's an interesting area. It'll be warmer inland too, of course. Guess it depends if you want to see more coast or something different for a while. It's still weekend, so the coast traffic will factor in. But to answer your question, yes, SSR is worth the time. I'll be riding it again, sooner or later, east to west this time.

Holy Crap, HOLY CRAP, HOLY CRAP! :yahoo:

That's what I think of the road.

Edit: ride it both ways if you don't want to end up inland.

Wheatie cracks me up, the boy from 'noi knows more of Kali roads than the fornicators living there!

If you want to find some great back roads turn right on Tin Barn Rd (off Skagg spgs) to left on Kings Ridge Rd. This will take you toward Occidental. Bitchin road for wabs.

Bumpy-assed, fork seal blowin', never-get-out-of-2nd-gear, goat wayward goat trails.

Yer welcome.

How wrong you are...everybody who knows was either ignoring you or sleeping off the alcohol. :)

If you've never been, which is what it sounds like...since yer asking the question, then it's a no-brainer. You have to do it...you have no choice in the matter.

Yes. You should ride SSR. The east side is goaty, the west side smooth and kick ***... but be forewarned that the speed limit is a ridiculous 35 mph and can be heavily patrolled on the weekends. B)

Gee Tyler, that's completely backwards.

Goat trails are on the west and smooth as your roll the east to Healdsburg. The road gets patrolled, but it is easy to find a rabbit to run ahead.

The coast is going to be completely socked in with fog today. We even had a marine layer this morning in Sacramento.

^^ This.

The CHP and County SO are on a special alert again for this road so it WILL be loaded with PoPo, more so during the weekend as this is a Bay Area Riders loop on the sportbikes. It's still worth the ride, though as most of us seem to roll with RD's.

Wanted: rabbit with RD to lead on Skaggs Springs Road on date to be determined. :)

Fixed. Don't forget to give us a RR on it, Don.
