Had 4 objectives today, one was to get out during a nice weather break, second was to exercise the wing and charge the battery the easy way. Wing does not get much exercise since the fjr entered the garage. Third was to assess the new 50mph speed limit around the approaches to skykomish wa. on hwy 2. Turns out to be 50mph from approx. 1/2 mile west of turnoff to approx. 1/2 east of the turnoff , not a big stretch at all but best be aware. Fourth was to check out the rebuilt Whistle Stop food and beverage establishment in Skykomish, nice looking place, inside and out. Turn left on the main drag and there it is. Not an overly big interior but very clean, including the restrooms. Staff was very friendly, menu was on a chalk board listing finger foods, chili, hotdogs, fish and chips, chicken and chips, oysters and chips and the like. Did not appear to have a full service kitchen. Nice tables and a pool table in back area. Seems to me like a reasonable break stop when coming back from somewhere over hwy 2. Went on up hwy.2 to last chain up area before tunnel creek curve, road clear and dry, did not want to encounter skiers at summit so turned about and enjoyed the ride home. 140.4 miles round trip.
