Thinking about picking up an adventure bike to but mine will be a KTM.

Yeah, those GS and driveshafts are having the best of luck.

Guten Abend Smitty, I'll send you a private message with instructions on the secret BMW handshake, lyrics to our favorite Wehrmacht beer drinking songs und the personal phone number of Hans in Munchen und Dieter in Berlin. Jawohl, Sehr Gut!

SkooterG and I got phone calls today from Louie Franconi, Sales Manager of BMW Motorcycles of Scottsdale, on our GS's.

Jane, GregM's girlfriend, and I are both picking up 2009 BMW F650GS Twins. She gets first pick of color and I get second.

Deutschland Uber Alles; Arbeiten Macht Frei! Smitty, BMW Kool-Aid goes down so smoothly after 40 years und 500K miles!!

Congrats Smitty! I wish you the best of luck with that final drive.

Wait a minute, aren't you the guy who changes bikes more often than most people wash their cars?

Pfft... Never mind, hopefully you'll be on a new bike before your final drive spews oil.

Smitty,

Call me in 6 months when you are getting rid of it. I have always wanted one of those adventurer thingys. I heard you change bikes often. :boredom:

Enjoy the bike.

Hi guys, heres the poop on my new bike. I had the wing sold to a guy in Kansas city. Needless to say he bailed in the last minute. I struck a deal with Grassroots BMW just south of me. Traded the Wing in and picked up my new ride today. It cost me a extra $500., but it is a done deal. I quess the guy in KC's wife said no. But I am happy now for a nother month or two... :yahoo: Heres a few pic's, ended up with a silver one, the red one was sold a few days ago. Got to go ride, 600 smile service is in the morning...

Smitty,

Awesome new ride. I had the opportunity to demo ride an R1200GSA two years ago at Mid-Ohio. It was an very nice ride.

I think you may want to hold on to this one for a while.

cool wheels. I'd be curious as to how servicing it needs and how reliable it is. Some day I think I will need to do the Alaska thing :)

Have fun on it there Herr Schmidtenkopf. I presume wifey isn't going with you on your 600 mile "adventure" tonight... :clapping:

Does this bike come with a "sheepskin"? ...jes askin.. :)

Sehr gut!!

BTW, do they have any R90/6 s left at the dealer? Had a hankerin' for one back in '74 when I was fifteen.

Smitty,

Can you please have your wife contact my wife and tell her it is ok to switch bikes that often?! Mine is complaing that since we have been together ( 6yrs ) she has had only 2 cars, while I have had 2 cars, 1 ATV, and 4 bikes, and now considering a nice v-twin to compliment to FJR for track use. I would greatly appreciate it. If not, do you think she would mind becoming a polygamist and being my second wife?

Sincerely,

Thompsonian

Smitty, congrats on the new ride. I know you'll like it. I put 58K on my '01 in little more than 3 years, without any problem at all.....

OK Smitty, after our conversation I am going down to the dealership tomorrow and see what kind of deal can be worked out. If not now next spring. One things for sure, you are running out of options as what to get next. Or do you just start all over again?

Lets see, you had 100 miles on it when you got home, 100 miles back to the dealership, that leaves 400 miles at an average of about 60 mph, you should make the dealership easily and have a few hours to wash and wax the bike.

By the way, in the picture with you standing behind the bike, I can see that you need some platform shoes you big wimp!

Enjoy Bronce - anything but a Vision! I've owned my share of BMW's over the years but nothing since my 1985 K-75T. The Adventure looks sweet!

You *******!!!

I told you to get the non-Adventure model. But you're still a *******!

What do you think about they way it handles?
