Just got around to downloading the pictures from last month's 1600 miles ride to the Smoky Mtns. and thought I would share a few pictures, etc. This was our first REAL trip on the FJR and a lot was learned.
Here is pillion Robin just prior to launch.
Left from Destin and headed to Huntsville AL on the first day to visit family. Next day, we headed to Pigeon Forge, Tn.
Checked into a really nice condo. Rode into Gatlinburg that afternoon
where we had some great Italian food while the FJR waited...
rode the sky buckets up the mtn
Next morning we were off to attack the roads of the Smoky Mtns! :yahoo:
Views from the pillion...
taking a break (and posing)...
Stopped for a drink before riding the Tail of the Dragon.
Typical view of the Dragon from the back seat...
after the Dragon
Later that evening on the Blue Ridge Pkwy
Anyway, we went on that way for a few more days. Stayed in Cherokee, NC, then Atlanta. Came home through Southern Ga.
We learned that our riding gear is very comfortable for touring. Her Joe Rocket Ater Ego and my Kevlar mesh were comfortable from 40 degrees to 90. bill meyer seat performed very well. G2, bar risers and a fresh set of PR2's installed last week.
We learned that you cannot have enough visibilty...Piaa lights, better horns and those blinky LED brake lights are being installed next week.
We learned that traveling without a GPS today is kinda dumb. It is one thing to know where you want to go...but a whole other thing to definitively know where the **** you are. Zumo 550 being installed next week. Not having it cost us at least a half a day...but we still had fun.
We learned we CAN comfortably pack for two on this bike.
I learned THE PILLION IS HARDCORE!
Can't wait for the Colorado ride!
