Hopefully this won't come across as too lame, although it's possible that it will.

My biggest complaint is vids that have the camera attached to the top of the helmet, but they aren't filming anyone in front of them...

This does not work too well! It doesn't show any lean angle at all. So... this vid has the camera attached to the front of the bike. Fortunately the video software has "stabilization" capabilities - the tupperware vibrates quite a bit.

It's a pretty short vid (stop it after 2/3 - it's boring then), bit more then 3 mins, and viewed at 720p shows some nice scenery at least, the top of this mountain goes higher then 8000 ft above sea level. There are really some awesome views.

Nice vid. I have an older model of the GoPro and found that mounting it on one of the fork tubes down by the fender gives a really cool angle and highlight the speed of the road going by.

Thank You. Agree, where one mounts the thing can make all the difference.... On the helmet (front, top, etc) really seems best when someone is in front of you, but if it's just you... not so good.

anyway, they are fun :)

Nice , but why did you slow it down? :dribble: :dribble:

R
haha yes I had to slow it down, didn't want to scare anyone :) actually should have sped it up, only my 3rd time riding this road... and well, if there's a mistake one then has two options... a rock wall or a cliff... take your pick!

I luv this road, it's about 30 miles up to SummerHaven, but there's mostly blind curves, tons of bicyclists (more power to them! hats off!), and the occasional ****** that doesn't know what the center lines are for!

Other then that! the beauty around you makes it hard to concentrate :)

Very nice...not LAME at all. :clapping:
I concur. And Azitlies, that refers to a recent post hereabouts about people posting videos. I doubt this one would have prompted such a post, but here's my answer to the question asked there: A real good reason to post vids with no particular, or at least unusual, ACTION is just to see a new road or a new part of the country from a m/c perspective. Haven't ridden in southern AZ yet, and now I want to. In the winter, of course. :) If I ever get a camera mounted for this kind of post, I'll post mine (some of 'em) so you folks can see some more great Nor Cal motorcycle roads.

And Azitlies, nice music selection. Enjoyed watching.

Thanks Mike :)

Yeah it would be great to see some vids from your neck of the woods! My next area will be rt 191 (aka "the devils highway"). Have to admit it's becoming fun when you can kind of share the ride like this, with a vid.

Has Fred W. seen this yet? Bet he'll like this one, great work, especially for a first effort. Was this filmed on the back side of Mt. Lemmon?

Thank You. Yes, Mt Lemmon and SummerHaven are right there together at the top of this run. The road changes names along the way (Mt Lemmon Highway), it's a great area that I hope to find time to explore further.

Another great road nearby that's on the list is "The Devils Highway" :)

Not bad 'tall. And thank you for not dicking it up by drowning out the sounds of the ride with too much blaring music. I just can't take m/c vids where the sound of the ride has been completely replaced by blaring music; I just don't get it when people do that. A little music is okay, but I think you gotta be able to hear the ride at the risk of wrecking the video.

You did a great job at avoiding the wind rushing over the mic that trouble most first efforts. You might try moving the mount a little, or maybe using some sort of isolation, like cell foam or rubber, between the mount and the bike. There's a little vibration being transferred to the mic, I think, that might be avoidable. Moving the mount to the fork might eliminate that vibration (and possibly introduce wind rush that you're not picking up now). Who knows?

Nice first effort. Keep at it.

Thanks Ari,

You make many good points. It has been a challenge, the vibration when mounted in the front. I'll consider other mount points (or dampening as you mention).

And agree completely, the sound tracks were intentionally adjusted to avoid the effect you describe, I don't watch a vid to go to a rock concert either!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, it's appreciated :)
