Just sounds like a troller to me. 6 posts and inferring people are selling because of problems with the FJR and legitimate reasons for selling are lies. Things that make you go hmmmmmm!!!!!!
Plus it would not lead the market share if the FJR wasn't the best out there. I have had mine going on 5 years in July. 03 ticker fix and no other problems what so ever. Still a fantastic LD platform and a ton of fun to ride.

I was going to trade up to the 07, I like the color. With all the farkles and what it would take to set the 07 up, plus the difference between the sale of the 03 and the price of the 07, I bought and set up an 07 Suzuki V-Strom DL 650. So I now have two bikes set up in similar fashion except no fuel cell on the Strom for not trading up. So no used bike on the market.

Just an observation from someone who has been in the FJR community over 5 years and loving every minute of it.
I am not here to bad mouth the bke at all. I am currently obsessing about it and driving my girl crazy. I was just making an observation. I really want to get the bike but it's a big move going from a low cruiser that I put a lot of work into and has been paid off to a new bike I can't even test ride. I sat on one at the stealership and it is considerably higher and because all of the great things I hear about it I am pretty sure I will love it. I just see all of the bikes for sale and think about how many people were sure they were going to love it and then realized it wasn't the bike for them.

I hate that a few people acting stupid on bikes mess it up for all of us and dealers no longer allowing test rides. One guy was selling a FJR and would let me test the bike but being the honest guy I am I told him that I wasn't sure if I was buying the bike yet and that I wanted to ride it to see if I liked it. He understood but felt that he would only let someone ride the bike just to make sure that it was mechanically sound. I just wanted him to know where I was coming from before I went over to meet him and waste our time.

Now I am looking for 07 or left over 06s and wasn't sure about buying used. Wish I knew what was coming in 08 so I could know if it's worth it to wait. <_<

Always buy used myself... let someone else take that initial depreciation hit. Oh, and maybe that used bike will have a farkle or two already installed.
As for the rash of bikes... yeah, seems thata' way. Better for the consumer looking to avoid the initial depreciation hit. I'm waiting to see what the '08 color is... & then waiting for the consumer that doesn't like his FJR, had a baby, etc... & I might snatch that bike out from underneath him/her.
Don't get one from the south. It might have water in the injectors!

you won't get the '08 till january'08. so if you don't mind waiting, you could get the '08, but then things could change and you might not be able to get it, or you might have to sell it because you're getting married. if you think you want the bike, now is the time to buy, and enjoy it, NEW or USED.

Hey benKFJR,It is hot down here in NOLA no matter what you are riding.....when it's 100 it don't matter it's hot....oh well we ride ALL YEAR LONG!
Just where do you live down their? I will be living on the west bank. Shoot me an "E-MAIL" @ [email protected]. When I get their maybe we can get together for a ride. I am really looking forward to that Gulf Coast. Thanks for the reply. BEN
I think I am going to email you some **** and my ex-girlfriends measurements. Maybe some spam, too....just to be safe.
SKIP the measurements and the SPAM, I have plenty already. Thanks anyway, BEN

I sold my '05 for an '06...it was in pristine condition and the guy who bought it got such a deal! I don't mind buying used if it is in good condition..plus my husband is a mechanic and knows what to look for. As for why so many are for sale...I just came back from vacation, rode around 3000 miles and only saw 1 on the road. There may seem to be alot for sale but really compared to others there aren't that many out there!

I jump on a 04 here on this forum and couldn't be happier with my purchase. I've had NEW bikes out the *** over the 34 years I've been riding. This one is the best deal I've ever made in price, per fun, per satisfaction.

Yes the 06/07 Gen II bikes have some improvements and they should after all but I sure don't know of anything that can't be tweaked too ones liking in any year model of the FJR's. ;) The fact that most of the bikes listed in the classified have high asking prices should tell most that the owners don't really want to get rid of them! :D :p

Hey Ben, On your topic, buy the FJR and you won't be disappointed.

Since your new I will translate odot's post: Not a good idea to post your email address on this or any forum. Spammers search forums, craigslist and such looking for legit email addresses. You can go back and edit your earlier post if you see fit. I haven't seen odot's girls but the thought is pretty scary!!

You forgot to mention the amount of people that bought the FJR rode it & scared the sh#t out of themselves, because of never having so much horsepower on tap before.....hence the 4 sale.....

I went looking for an FJR last spring and couldn't find one that hadn't been sold before I got to it. I finally got lucky and found an '03 with 9444 miles on it and bought it un-ridden (no endorsement). I bought the bike in May '06 and sold it the same year in October... to buy a brand new '06. I went into looking for a used bike because I refused to pay for the set-up, sales tax (Wa state) and transportation fees. After riding the FJR I knew that this is the bike that I would ride for many years. I upgraded so I would have the benefits of the Gen II upgrades. The greatest thing about buying my first FJR is that a Co-worker overheard me talking about 'maybe' upgrading to a new FJR and told me he wanted first crack at buying my '03. Well he bought my '03 the same way I did, Unridden. He loves it as much as I did and rides it as much as I did.

As far as selling it because of kids, new house, not having permission etc. That is something you have to plan before you buy one. Not having permission isn't a reason in my opinion. Hell, my wife is still telling me I can't have a MC! Oh well.

i walked into my local dealer today around lunch time ... i had noticed a couple weeks ago there was an 07 A on the floor... first one i had ever seen on the floor... walked up and sat on it... owner walked out and said "you like it" i said "yep" he said "you wanna ride it" i said "yep" .... he turned to a salesman and said "prep that bike for him to ride" ... you could have heard a pin drop on the showroom floor.... everyone was looking... they could'nt believe he prep'd it for someone to test drive... needless to say i rode it 7 miles came back and bought it ... its in my garage... traded my cruiser in without hesitation... sure is nice to be back on sporty bike...

Well I too am looking and I LOVE the "idea" of buying a used one with some goodies already on it. But personally, I usually make poor decisions. I end up going upside down on things and need to trade in at a dealer just to get what I want, lol

Anyway. I am pretty in the clear with my current cruiser. At least I am at the point now where I have a little equity. My wife thinks I need to just keep what I have? I am heading to my local dealer tomorrow because they have an 07 on the floor and I think the cost was 10,900? The saleman told me last week and can make me a GREAT DEAL on it???

I am going to actually find out what the "GREAT DEAL" really is tomorrow...who knows I may be an actual member here by tomorrow night, LOL LOL (I also may be divorced, jk)

One thing. I DO need to test ride it before I buy it. I am really hoping I like the feel and ride as much as I like the look.

aw, damn. now the secret's out !

seriously ... the machine is bulletproof; you can save some $$ buying used; you may find a bike with some farkles that may be "extra" (for instance, I had a price in mind and I paid no more than that price ... the Yamaha trunk ended up being included at the price that I was willing to pay ... the key being what one is willing to pay); and ultimately you are in charge of the bike you buy, therefore you can determine yourself whether the machine is decent or actually someone else's troubles.

I can tell you, however, that I saw many FJRs while I was searching and I did not see one that I would say was beat up. It seems that the demographic that buys the FJR tends to take care of it (and I think the messages on this board confirm that). Oh yeah, and quite a few of the dealers in my area were very cooperative and were fine letting me test ride used bikes. I found many good used bikes ... it was just finding the bike that the seller and I could reach an agreement on price.

Pardon the highjack, but I have a friend in Hoodsport, WA who is going to buy another bike. Any good deals on late or new FJR's that anyone knows of? I want to save him from another Beemer.

You'll love it,period. Once you actually ride it you'll wish you had it sooner. A few of us have even screwed the bike up in accidents and fixed 'em ourselves(myself included) instead of letting them get totalled and buying a new one!

Sorta like this

Not to mention all the extra's I added after tearing her down! I was suprised how easy it is to maintain, I don't even change the erl in my Tahoe, but w/ the Feej it's just that much of an attachment for me. Everyday I look at her and go :yahoo: , I still love riding it every chance I can, especially since I was bouncing off the walls for awhile being that I was unable to ride due to seriously bad luck! :glare:

My 2005 bike's previous owner bought it without ever having sat on an FJR (like a lot of people back in the days of special order only). When it arrived he found that he was too short to reach the ground confidently, only putting about 400 miles on it in 9 months, and he really didn't need a big touring bike anyway since he only rode it around town (don't buy one if you aren't really gonna go somewhere occasionally, way too much bike for just riding around in town IMHO). I bought it for about $2K less than a new one.

"Never seen rain" always strikes me as pretty silly...these aren't show bikes and if you aren't planning to ride in the rain, you probably shouldn't be looking at an FJR.

"Never been dropped" is great, but a low speed or zero MPH drop usually causes only easily-repaired (although sometimes costly) cosmetic damage, nothing to be afraid of, and a WHOLE LOT of FJR's have gone over from a standstill. Various reasons for that, but usually no big deal, and you'd probably never know anyway.

Finally, rejoice...the more used feejers on the market, the better your chances of finding a good one at a great price. A couple of years ago there was only one for sale in Miami. It's a great bike and I'm sure glad I bought it.

I test rode a used FJR at a dealership Niehaus in Litchfield, IL before I purchased my 07. The used salesman was Awesome! I told him that I wanted to purchase a new one, but wanted to take a test ride with my wife to be sure that she enjoyed it. He understood and was very helpful. I really wanted to purchase the new FJR from this dealership, but the new sales guy kept talking about 15 K as the out the door price...I live in MO and all sales tax is paid at the DMV. I ended up buying my 07 closer to home and paid less than MSRP out the door.

there are used ones on the market because many of the people who initially purchased them are of the income level they can afford to buy a machine like this, ride it for a year or two, then sell it "just because they want something else that's new".

So they do - and the rest of us benefit from there being clean, low-mileage machines on the market.

You think it's tough now without test rides, I bought both my '04 and my 06' with Yamaha's famous POP, without even seeing one in person...

Renink,

Dont let the fact that you actually have to straighten your knees out to touch the ground miss lead you into thinking the bike is too big. True it is like any other bike, there are things you need to acclimate to. When i was concerned about seat height, guys on this fourm (or maybe it was FJROwners.com) told me that they were ok at 5'6" (how they get there feet to the ground is a mistery but they do). I am 5'8" and I am fine.

As for the sales that is spring time for you! I monitored the number of bikes listed at cycletrader.com for the entire year, the number of all bikes for sale spikes in the spring and slowly dropps over the summer and fall. The FJR, as most will tell you is one of the best bikes if not the best bike they have owned (in my case its the best bike period!!)! Yes, like other machines it requires maintainance. but the fact is that the longevity as measured in miles logged is as good as it gets. Trust us on the fourm when we say that if an ST is what you want, the FJR is an excellent chioce!

PS, The bike i own was a used 04 with 13k in Oct of 06 now its over 17k without a hitch. The guy who owned it traded it in for an 06 with ABS one day when servicing the 04. Then when servicing his 06, there was an 06 AE on the floor, he took it for a ride and pow! I had two used FJRs to choose from :yahoo:

Maybe they weren't happy with the bike and used the generic excuses? I have seen this on other forums all over the place and just found it funny.
Maybe it's hard for dopey middle aged guys to admit:

"Jesus, this thing is waaaay too fast! It's gonna kill me! I better just get another cruiser...."

Hard on the ego....
