For any of you that remember it Steed, Purdy and whoever the character was called that Gareth Hunt played. (See if you can remember without googleing it).

Gareth Hunt died yesterday aged 64 of pancreatic cancer.

Just incase you didnt get The New Avengers over there, it was a huge cult series in the 70's here. Lady character 'Purdy' was Joanna Lumleys (Absoloutly Fabulous) first big role.

The version we got in the US had different actors. The actor that played John Steed was Patrick Macnee and Mrs Emma Peel, played by Diana Rigg. She was HOT ! she used to host a murder mystery show, still looked damm good. From my google search she was in season 4 and 5.

We got some of the earlier ones before Miss Peel but they were done with a kind of B&W video that currently shows as being very washed out/over exposed.

Umma Therman in the movie was hotter.

We got it in the Great White north....Gareth Hunt....played Mike Gambit in the 2nd go round of "The Avengers"....no googling necessary.....

There was an episode of, "Married: With Children", where they were chasing after an Emma Peel video and ended up at the end learning it was her "now" instead of back when The Avengers was on. Their faces as they described her high-kicking (we saw the back of the TV) cracked me up!

That was the original version; 'The Avengers' the one with Joanna Lumley and Gareth Hunt was; 'The New Avengers'
