Ok, "Take it to your dealer", no good.

Try looking at the cable near the hand-grip, on the Gen II bikes there's an adjustment in-line, covered by a rubber sleeve.

Well, I would but it ain't in there....don't have a service manual....and the GenIII's got a YCCT or somesuch conneciton....no standard inline cable like every other mc I've ever had.........Jeebus, had to post on a Friday besides.....I'm gonna get crap all day...........anyone else know?....Thanks

Per 2013/14 Owners manual, Throttle grip free play is supposed to be 3-5mm. If it needs adjustment it says: "...if necessary, have a Yamaha dealer adjust it"

I'm guessing the only adjustment would be at the FBW servo end (under the tank?).

I'm hoping that isn't it..........will take a better look in daylight and without the celebratory beer...........really like the new scooter so far...........ff

A lot of guys here have experience in throttle cable take-up (quite easy) but now it's a whole new ballgame with TBW.

On my (other brand) TBW bike, I have no (0mm) slop. If it is in sport mode, holly rollers you better hang on for dear life cuz a little goes a long ways. I've gotten "broken-in to it" by first riding in Rain Mode which makes throttle response way less sensitive. I've now graduated to Road Mode, I think the Sport mode may be for when I wanna hot-dawg it ;)

So it may be about just getting use to it?

There is the same cable adjustment on the 2014 as was on my 2009. Tightened it up two days ago. No problem.

What slack? None in my '13

Maybe you're in Touring mode? If you see a T on your dash, that's touring mode and you have to twist the throttle a lot more. Try the Sport or S setting, the bike feels like it has more snap from idle up in Sport. Actually, it doesn't but you have to turn the throttle less to have the same response in Sport mode.

The switch for Touring / Sport is on the throttle side normally where the starter button would be.

Thanks guys.....yeah I know abou the modes and all.....the cable's got slack..........about a quarter inch.....way too much....I like just enough so it doesn't bind when you turn the bars lock to lock......you know............ANYWAY.........lo and behold, about half way down the cable that's really not a cable any more but really neat go faster computer connected ****..........there's an adjustment just like the other throttle cables used to have........I'm good......put the Givi box on it today (bastardized the ST1300 mounting plate)...............got my plate and racked up 520 miles so far..........50 in the rain....so it's dirty now and bug covered and I feel a whole lot better..........them shiny new ones scare..........chicken strips are going down.......nice machine..........ff

Jeebus ******* Chlist................we're getting literary lessons here? WTF.......I write the way I talk.........seriously..........ain't got no skin the Cpt. Kirk clan.........................ride well, ride safe...........................................ff

Thanks Niehart............yeah, realized it was Friday too late............estrogen was flowing pretty good there for awhile.........enjoy the weekend..............ff
