I took a little adventure and went on a Men's retreat last weekend. I gave more than ample notice to all in SoCal, compared to OM, and no one was able to make the ride so I did it solo.

I took Hwy 5 south to Hwy 74 (Ortega Hwy), fun twisties, and then I took Hwy 15 south to Hwy 79 at Temecula. I then just enjoyed the cruise on the back side of Palomar Mtn., then headed west on Hwy 78 to my destination; between Julian and Ramona, CA.

I thought I'd pay Iggy a visit on the way as I saw he had a road named after him. Never found his home.

The weather was great, light winds in Temecula, then it died down. Gorgeous scenery, and vistas, it was a Great ride.

Enjoy the pix.

Here's Iggy's road, I knew he was mayor, but I didn't know they made him a saint. I guess he's a real good mayor.

I saw this guy, looked like a holy man coming from Saint Iggy's, so I thought I'd see what wisdom he had for me. Turns out he had no wisdom, the guy is walking the Pacific Trail. That's the second time on rides I've run into Pacific Trail hikers. For those else where the Pacific trail stretches from the Mexican border to Canada. These guys make Iron butt people look sane. The first time I saw a guy was at 9,924 Ft. at the top of the Sonora Pass. It was late June 2004, and this guy (from New York) needed to be in Canada by September. Not sure he ever made it. I took his pic and E-mailed it to him, I never heard back.

There sure are a lot of Saints in this town, wonderful Santa Ysabel.

This sign confused me. I always seem to be easily confused. I wasn't sure if I should turn right or left on Hwy 78 to go south.

Not sure if east Hwy 78 was a choice back there….

I think I'll take this road.

I stayed here, a couple miles off the main road (via dirt road, that was fun) at a very nice retreat/resort, overlooking this beautiful horse ranch.

I did make it to Julian Saturday for some nice raspberry apple pie alamode. I was kind of scared of all the hard core biker dudes, they rode mean looking bikes like this….

Damn Bluesman,

I just got the HW outta my foot Wednesday so I'm fast approaching ride-ready. Maybe another week. Shoot me a PM whenever you got something like this planned. Sometimes all I need is a real simple excuse to get a full-day kitchen pass. Like "see honey...Bluesman needs a wingman."

I'm thinking about pulling together a day trip up to Cold Springs Tavern in a weekend or two. Two lanes through Ojai to SB to the tavern. Maybe I'll be able to rustle up a local quorum.

Thanks for taking us along.

I lived in San Diego for ten years and visited Julian many times for great pie. Only had a bike out there for about a year and a half though (84 Honda Nighthawk 700), and never really got to enjoy any of those great SoCal back roads (except for a couple of fun runs up 79 through Cuyamaca State Park). Thanks for letting those of us far away tag along!

The gypsy in me likes that glitter paint ;)

I love apple pie and raspberry pie (it's my fav) but ....not so much together. Which reminds me, my rhubarb needs picking....I love rhubarb pie, too!

Thanks for the ride-along Bluesy!

That's the famous Dudley's Bakery across the street, where all the cars are. You didn't stop there and get some of their world class bread? Uuuummmmmmm .....bread.

Good ride report.

You rolled in a day after I rode through that area, some very good riding around there and Julian Pie was to die for.... :)

Wee, post it up!

You are correct! That is Dudley's. No, I didn't get any bread... this time. In fact, I never have got their bread. :dribble:
Next time I'll get some.

Simon, this wasn't to satisfy some sorta court-ordered community service, was it?

Because I know you struggle with conformity.

Good to see you getting out and riding, amigo! Thank you for the photos and narrative.

Hope to see you in June.

And.....why are your forks black?

I'm here to serve the community anytime... No it was not a legal thang at all.

And.....why are your forks black?
1)I don't know....2) They are really dirty.

3) They are clear and reflect the color of the fork oil. :dribble:

Actually the previous owner did that. He also painted the entire exhaust system black, remember, it has Two-Bros CF cans. I knew what was underneath that black paint, polished stainless steel short header pipe and polished aluminum tips. Needless to say they now look splendid unpainted.

See you in June brother. ;)
