DR, The SOCAL Fornicators cannot post up a list of names in a public location, every Bail Bondsman, Parole Officer, Ex-Wife, Bounty Hunter and Process Server in California would show up to nab them. They are not nice and sweet people like the Specific Northwet Soggy Mooks are, they are a filthy rotten pack of father-rapers and mother-stabbers on the Group W Bench; as Arlo Guthrie would say!

It would be interesting to see how many are attending the SOCAL Tech Day...
Since you asked so nicely, here are the folks that expressed interest:

Slappy

Pegscraper

Sante Fe Dreamin

ramrezz425

Lawrence

Brodie

johhny80s

CATCH ME IF U CAN

Jimm

djbill

CibrdOwn

Fairlaner

McRIde

cometman

Not sure how things will shape up with the 20% - 30% rain forecast, but I expect at least some of these folks to show up either way.

Don, no worries with the parole officers, bounty hunters, ex-wives, etc. We're really nice and sweet folks just like those Northwet Soggy Mooks. Why, we may even be moral enough to join the army after bein' litterbugs. (<- Arlo Guthry "Alice's Resturant" reference)

I'm curious if anyone who is attending has pulled the driveshaft to check the splines. Such was supposed to be done by the dealer on my recent service, but wasn't (in email said they would, now say they made a mistake and misunderstood my question

Anyway, Dealer Service guide says 1.5 hr job. Looking in the Service manual, looks like a number of specialized tools, replacement oil seal and circlip :(

- thoughts?
Should be very straight forward after removing the rear wheel. Don't see any reason to remove the oil seal. IIRC, four bolts and off it comes. If I'm wrong someone will let us know, but I don't think so. No special tools are needed that I'm aware of. Other than that I think I have everything needed, including torque wrenches and jack.
Posted 11 March 2011 - 07:24 AM You are correct Neil. The splines are an easy job. A few of us have had the front fairing off so if you need to do that we can help.
Neil, do you have, or anyone who is attending, the appropriate grease to add to the rear-splines if required, or should I pick some up? If I do need to pick some up (I'm not at home to look at the service manual), would someone be so kind as to let me know what I need to get. Thanks in advance.

See you all Sat AM rain or shine.

Lawrence,

I have old axle grease, probably not what most folks would use. You're welcome to it, but it would probably be in your best interest to get some moly grease like Honda Moly 60 paste. (would be in my best interest to finally get some as well...)

Neil

I have about 1/2 bottle of the gear oil from Yamaha but it goes in the differential plug if you need that?, Let me know. DR

If you want to use it in your diff, you can bring it. I've got some generic 80-90 wt here also.

BTW, I found a local source for the Honda Moly 60 (Escondido Cycle Center). They said that they have plenty in stock at $10 ea. I'll pick up a tube of it on the way home tonight.

Oh man!!! I'm going to have to miss the old gang, I'm bummed. There's nothing more fun than watching Johny80s tear into a bike and not get it running for weeks. Lanny's always good for laughs because he never finishes until 3AM. Slappy would be a hoot to watch tear into his bike only to realize he doesn’t have the manual to put it all back together, not even the kings men could help or the queen (Richard?)

Any who, you guys have fun! No bike tipping either, I know how you clowns can get unsupervised!! ;)

Whew! I thought you might show up but this is good news. Now we can really have fun.
