Hey all, I just picked this 03 up off of ebay for a good price considering it has Remus titanium exhaust, power commander, sargent seat ans aftermarket windscreen, bar risers, and Ohlins rear shock. I am 4th owner, bike has been supposedly owned by 70 y/o in FL and a preacher maybe in SC. If any of you recognize it, that would help.

The bike

Now the questions.

1. Do any of you know what kind of device could have been hooked up here? There are 2 telephone style jacks and then and audio type jack. There is a velcro patch adjacent to them.

2. There is a mysterious switch here. Is this familiar to anybody. Look close, its a small toggle under the bar.

3. I am pretty sure the windscreen is a Rifle with tuning block and the screen has been cut down because the top edge is wavy but smooth. Does it look like a Rifle? It is roughly 23in. X 23in. and does a great job at nearly full up position.

Tuning block?

Thanks and help me out if you can by ID ing what these pics could have been. I am hoping I can use some of this existing hardware as I start my own farkleing.

70-year old? Preacher? Hah! I recognize that bike. The P.O. was a guy who taught stunt riding at Sturgis every summer and let everybody practice on it.

Nah. Kidding. The bike looks good and very nicely set up. Is that a Givi top box mount? Included also? And who put the pc and the Ohlins on, the preacher or the 70 y.o.? (And why, I'm wondering?) Wondering what a "good price" might be, if you don't mind my asking. And of course, welcome to the forum.

Congrats & welcome!

Looks nice & not thrashed!

Looks like a radar detector power & audio jacks (phone jack is power for an Escort 8500).

Top box mount is for the factory Yamaha box.

goodtime,

What a Great Looking '03.

Couple things to recommend:

1-Replace the Stainless Screws with the Plastic/Nylon Ones (they shear instead of holding if your body hits it during a collision). Example here: https://www.fjriders.com/forum/showthread.p...46068#post46068

2-Get some Frame Sliders so if it tips it preserves your baby from scratching, etc.

Good Find and Many Happy Miles to Ya!

Those look like the wires to hook up a radar detector. The phone plug is for power and should run to your battery or fuseblock if you have one and the audio plug is for audio that was probably hooked up to a communication system such as autocomm or starcomm. Look under seat maybe it is still there? The velcro was probably where the detector was held down.

Here is a picture of my Radar with the phone plug and audio line hooked into the side right next to the word ESCORT

Goodtime..... you :angry2: )(^$^@^%$......Congrats ;)

I was bidding on that bike too ! Lucky for you I was working when the auction closed !

You got a great deal ! I figured even if the bike was a ticker, I could break even with all the farkles

going to my 05. I was getting ready for a trip to N.C. this weekend to pick it up-THANKS.......

No, really Congrats! Nice bike!!!

101 Yes I was tickled pink to get an FJR with a few farkles at that price. (ticker = not) I took it to the local yammy dealer the day after I got it and the store owner and head mechanic said it sounded like a normal FJR to them, no worries just ride it and enjoy it! I was relieved.

Not trying to rain on your parade...honest. But frankly, you'd be hard pressed to find a dealer who'd freely tell you that you had a ticker. I've had two FJRs now and my first was a ticker. Finding a dealer who would acknowledge it and agree to fix it was a nightmare. On the lighter side, if you had a ticker, it should be fairly obvious, because they really tick when they're bad. If it doesn't sound bad, it probably isn't. It certainly looks like a clean, well kept, nicely farkled bike. Enjoy the ride.

My dealer says all Yamaha dealer repairs are in theYamaha computer system for any dealer to look up. I think this is true, others may know better.

Congrats on the new ride. If it were a ticker, it would've shown up before the bike got to 37,000 miles that yours has.
