Spent the last 4 days with the FJR up on the centerstand with a flat rear tire and have been driving the ZRex. Gosh, that bikes a hoot! But got home tonight, didn't have to go the the second job tonight (an ugly downsizing story I'll tell y'all about one day) and decided to take matters in hand.

Y'ever try to put an FJR up on the centerstand when it won't roll? Damn near blew out my hernia surgery getting it up off that flat.

Damn, how easy is it to pop that rear wheel off. I'm lovin' shafties more and more every day! :)

Took the wheel/tire assy down to the nearest convenience store, slammed about 50 pounds of air in it and found what basically amounted to a pin in the tire. Like the kind of pin you would pin flowers on a girl's lapel. Tiny, thin, sewing pin. $5 patch kit from Advance Auto Parts, top 'er off to 42 pounds and back on the bike in about a minute and a half.

Did I mention how much easier a shaftie wheel is to pull than a chaindrive wheel?

Anyway, took the bike out for a quick 50 miler to check/set the plug, and wow...I can't believe how much I missed being off that sucker.

I love my ZRex. It will kick the *** of most anything short of a 1400 or late model SuperLiter bike, but the FJR is so....so....words escape me. It's just so RIGHT!

Now, the first person to post a picture of an UGLY blue FJR in this thread can kiss my :****:

Not an FJR, but it is a Yamaha and it is blue -- and pretty ugly and beat-up also. We were on our Spring Trip to AZ and met the guy riding this near Payson, AZ. He rides it had for sure -- parts dangling all over the place.

I just had a feeling you'd be one of, if not THE first to reply to this thread. But thank Cthulhu you din't put a picture of a gay-***, hand-holdin', woman's-blouse-wearing blue-damn motorsickle here.

Chtulhu says "Thank You."

Wow. Looks like he slides it more than he rides it. Still, that beat up bike does have character.

Something from a movie line I think, goes something like this, “don’t mess with a battle scarred veteran”. B)

Got a follow-up on the results of my tire repair:

If you EVER use one of these style tire-pluggers:

104.jpg

...be SURE to cut off the excess plug material hanging out of the hole. If you don't, the sticky fabric/material sticks to the road with every rotation of the tire and within 20-30 miles, the plug will pull itself RIGHT out of the hole.

Don't ask me how I know. :)
