I purchased some Sonic 1.2kg springs for my 05 with 2500 on it. That was the recommended spring rate based on my size and riding style.. I got a similar # from the racetech site.

I did a search and there are very few people who have installed these it seems. I searched on other boards as well. They were cheap enough, and seem as good a quality as the racetechs I have for the Bandit.

Do I really need to do any valving upgrades as well? or do you think I can just get away with putting in some new fork oil? not sure about the weight 7.5 or 10.

I will also be doing a rear shock, and not sure of that yet either. I have an 8981 for the bandit and love it, and I can get one for the FJR, but lots of people like the wilbers too, so I just need to decide as they are both high quality. I dont need external preload, cause its just me riding, so I will set it and forget it.

Any thoughts on the Sonic springs?

1) Get the remote preload. a)There will be a vast difference in handling if you ever load the panniers and tour. B) You might, God-forbid, actually sell your FJR. If the buyer rides 2-up, he/she will want the remote preload.

2) Most who have replaced the fork springs have not revalved.
