Andrew had a great time with everyone on last weekend's ride and relayed to me everyone wishing me well with my back problems. They are much appreciated! Thanks!

The MRI report came today and I don't know whether to be happy or discouraged. I mean, the report makes it sound like a minor set of issues, but that doesn't give me much hope of getting treatment for the extreme pain that effects my physicality every day. I have a consult with a spine specialist in November... the same one that I saw a couple of years ago that told me to do some exercises that he demonstrated to strengthen my back and core muscles to support the spine. I fear he will tell me the same thing this time and dismiss me. Nevermind the fact that I can only do the exercises that the physical therapist assigned me on the average of 4 times a month because my back pain is present almost every single day! :angry2: And on the days that there isn't any pain, I am reluctant to do the exercises because they just bring the pain right back! GRRR!

I don't know what to think. I guess I just wait and see what the specialist says next month. Blah.

Anyway, thanks for listening to the vent! And thanks for wishing me well! :)

Best wishes. Can they do an epidural? Just wondering because I have some pretty crapped-out vertibrae in my neck and they did a series of three epidurals that did give me some relief for quite awhile. In addition, I now take 600 mg of Naproxen (Aleve) twice per day. Works better than any prescription anti-inflamatory that I have tried. It's a little rough on the stomach. I have to make sure I eat first, but it keeps my head turning.

Dr. HIGHLANDER, paging Dr. HIGHLANDER. Train wreck in Orangevale, prep the O.R., stat!

Dang, you two are gonna be a pretty sad boneyard PDQ. Maybe a change in Drs. is advised? :dntknw: Or, maybe just some more R & C.

Yeah, I can kill the back pain with the R & C and then die from liver failure! Sounds like fun! B)

I'll try to be optimistic until I see the specialist next month. Maybe he will be better than I anticipate.

I do think I should talk to Highlander though. Perhaps he has some insight.

I feel for you. I have been dealing with a cervical spine injury since 1992. the daily pain is so intense at times it brings on the tears. What works for me is traction. It seems to pull things apart enough to relieve the pain and then i lay down before gravity takes over. Don't try the liver killing approach. I tried it and almost had to start a twelve step thing. Best of luck.
